Josh Simmons only true LT with a 1st Round grade

My big issue is that I really doubt that LT will be actual BPA at anypoint we are picking, so here is the old debate do we stick BPA even if that means the OT is not addressed. I have been told by several folks that you always go BPA, so I am curious to see some of the responses.
Bpa based on the priority of need.

You cannot draft with blinders on, targeting bpa without regard to the holes in your roster.

That's still a big IF and unless we get Cam in free agency which seems less likely now we need someone that can play LT on week one. Ideally I would just select Ersery in the 2nd but he likely won't be ready until a mid-season. Josh Simmons if fully healthy would be but he's likely a reach at 4 but isn't falling to 38.
Would you take him in a trade back to 6 or 7 while picking up an extra 2nd Round Pick?

You know Pape, whoever we get, I hope turns out to be one of those rare, solid LT's that other teams will want to sign from us as a FA, but we'll deny them that because they're good enough to keep.

BPA based on need? Too funny. That is simply drafting for need and then adding "BPA". Someone would draft for need and pick the 2nd or 3rd best option?

I would prioritize targeting Josh Simmons late in the first now that we lost out on Stanley.
I'm not necessarily against the idea. But there's a lot left to learn. If he's not ready to go, then we still have a hole at LT.

Cam Robinson might have to be the stop gap option. Sign him to a 2 year deal and see how the draft plays out. He's not great but it's an upgrade.

I'm not against Campbell and Ersery. Or a trade down and Simmons or Conerly and Ersery. I like Ersery even more in the 2nd as someone that can be the backup LT as well.

If you want to build a long term championship team, the management has to use FA to fill needs and draft BPA. If you panic and try to fix needs all at once, you end up with a weak roster like the Pats 2024 draft.

It might take 2 or 3 years to fill out the roster. Don't panic and let pressure get to you and think you have to draft for this years needs.

If we have Robinson, Lowe, and Campbell/Simmons, we dont need a 4th rookie LT this year. Pick the BPA.

Well, it's possible those guys could be BPA at their spots. I think Ersery would he great value at 38.

If we're 20-25, I think Simmons and Conerly are great value.

Campbell is in discussion at 4 and could be BPA if Hunter and Carter are gone.

But if we're drafting 2 OT's with our first picks, it's probably because we didn't sign one in FA.

bpa is a stupid philosophy when you overlook the holes on your roster.

its a simple concept to understand. do try.

Rude obnoxious post as always. You do you.

Yeah but it takes 2 to trade obviously. I hate to say it but we might have to select Will at 4 and then I'd still try to do what it takes to trade back into the 1st for Josh.

Yeah don't get me wrong. If Carter or Hunter are there then you select them BUT the calls to trade up in that scenario are going to be off the hook.

I agree with you to an extent, but I will suggest that by doing that you are inevitably going to miss out on better players.

yeah, its great when we get a guy who drops a dozen sacks on the stat sheet.... and we give up 50 plus sacks again... because some talking head thinks hes 4% better on his combine results

thats what you call a pyrrhic victory

pyrrhic victory
Thank you for using that terminology, I had no idea what it meant so I looked it up. I enjoy learning new things, I appreciate it.

Pape
If I have to phone a friend
It’s you
If the y was not in there
I would think you typed to fast and was writing prick

I honestly have this feeling that the Pats and Dante like Will Campbell at LT and will select him at 4 if Carter and Hunter are gone.

Donovan Jackson? Could start at LG and has shown the ability to move outside.
