Josh Simmons only true LT with a 1st Round grade

I've been saying this here on this forum for several years, it's been my observation that every year there are 4 - 6 OT prospects taken in the first round, plus another couple of IOL prospects. Last year there were even more, many of whom "rose" during the period from the end of the CFB season to Day 1 of the draft. I think that reflected the ****ty options in last year's free agency period.

With Stanley and Alaric Jackson off the board, I see no reason to believe this year will be any different from last year. there may be one or two fewer OT prospects taken because last year's crop was deeper for OT than this year's but I expect the following guys to go in the first round this year, perhaps in this order:

• Campbell
• Membou
• Simmons
• Banks
• Ersery

I think Josh Conerly also has a shot to be taken on Day 1, and I expect him and Cam Williams to go in the second round. I expect Ozzy Trapilo to be taken in the third round. Anthony Belton, Charles Grant, Hollin Pierce, maybe Emery Jones are likely in that conversation also. I doubt any of them, or even a Logan Brown or Jack Nelson, makes it past the end of the fourth round.

Guys I think may go as IOLs in the first round include Tyler Booker, Grey Zabel, Jonah Savaiinea, and possibly Donovan Jackson. I think Wyatt MIlum, Marcus Mbow, and Tate Ratledge may go in the second round. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jake Majors, Dylan Fairchild, and Jaret Wison go as IOLs in the third round.

The OL talent situation for the NFL is pretty damn bad, lots of these guys will be overdrafted. Teams with poor evaluation skills for OL, including the Patriots over the past few years (I think its 6 years) are in a terrible position that can only be overcome with great coaching. Even the Chiefs have been atrocious and their head coach is as good as it gets and he came up as a superior OL coach.
In other words, if we're taking Campbell or Membou, don't mess around with large trade downs.

Why are we drafting #38 and not #36 in the 2nd round?

I had the same question. It's the ranking they do with teams with similar records. I believe we were the top of the 4 win teams, but they stagger the order throughout the rest of the rounds. Seems like a pretty fair thing to do especially if several teams have the same win total.

McShay on his podcast mentioned he has Simmons at #38 overall on his big board. He mentioned that there are rumors of some maturity issues. He didn't go into details, just mentioned it's what he's hearing. Thats an interesting angle that we simply have no way to evaluate.

We met with him at the combine so maybe they got some insight from that.

Yeah its called smoke to see if he will fall to us

Who's with me with OT Josh Simmons I know LTD is: there's' plenty room on the bus hop on.

Then we should seriously consider him at 4 IMO.

After a Trade Down From 4 with Hunter or Carter on the Board. Whoever wants em have to send a 2026 First Rounder in the Packaged.

Will Simmons miss traing camp?

We have the option to PUP him the risk is worth the rewards. Marrone seems like a good OL Coach. Hopefully we get a player not named V Lowe to hold down the LT until Simmons is ready.

I say grab him.

I still think it's going to be very difficult to trade down in 2025 but if they somehow manage to do that... I hope they draft Simmons and sign Tyron Smith to play LT until he gets hurt again and then Simmons can start there...hopefully. Or throw picks together and move up to the late 1st to take Simmons. Regardless how it works out...I prefer Smith and Simmons.

I go into a little bit of in my thread. There's quite a few top tier-ish guys with some "character" issues in this draft, esp at WR and OT. Tet and LBIII are headaches and I really like both.

I'll take a headache as long as he protects my QB. It's the WR diva that I'm afraid of.

Knowing the Chiefs landed the best available LT at the end of round 1 will never sit well with me.
