Metcalf looking for:

- play for a contender
- $30m per year
- stable QB
- warm weather

He ain’t coming to NE.

Guy from Mississippi who got drafted by Seattle wants warm weather again once he gets back, don't blame him.

2 out of 4 isn’t bad.
We can give him 2 of those.
Let’s see how it shakes out.
Maybe he’s so impressed with Drake, and Vrabs he changes his mind.

Not even close. They should be happy to get a top 15 pick in 2nd.
Yea that was kinda my thinking. 2nd rounder.

If he was Ja'Maar Chase then that is a different level of compensation

IF that's the case we should just kill this thread. Don't blowout your ACL DK.

Any football player that says they want to play in a warm weather environment loses a little of my respect.

Maybe it’s more about the living not the playing?
He’s a southern guy I have to understand but it still angers me.
But it ain’t over til it’s over.

I don't blame him. Given us or chargers majority would choose the chargers.

It's a long road to recovery.

Right now it will be the top 10 winning teams that hold the draw along with dolphins , raiders and jaguars due to weather.

We might get someone who has not maximizes his potential due to poor team or QB fit. Sadly those type of players are not in our radar.

I totally get not wanting to live in a state or climate that you do not want to be in. Hell, I can't wait to be a snowbird and get out of this overtaxed, progressive hell-hole of a state.

...but not wanting to play actual football in a northern climate pisses me off.

Sissy.

I agree with that, but are you suggesting he lives in anther state and travels during the season?

That doesn’t sound practical.

I'm suggesting I don't want him playing for the team at all because he is a sissy. I couldn't care less if he doesn't want to live in MA.

I want players here who on game days, when it's -2 out or 39, rainy and windy still have the attitude they are the best on the field, want to play football, and will kick the opponents ass regardless.

We made fun of warm-climate players who came to Foxboro in December.

I agree, unfortunately there’s not too many Julian Edelmans, and Deion Branch kind of personalities out there.

Most guys want the nice weather and not to freeze.
It’s hard for me to blame them I hate the Cold, unless I had a few drinks to warm me up,

As a kid I loved playing football in the snow, but now if I didn’t have a family I’d move out of Philly to a warmer climate.

Agree. Growing up in the northeast you needed to find things to do during the winter. Football, pond hockey, skiing, etc. It's a lifestyle thing. You adapt, dressed appropriately, and had fun.

I get that he wants to play in a warm climate. That's his preference. The issue is if he is on the Patriots and we need to go to freaking Arrowhead or Mile High in January for a playoff game and it's 19 degrees, I won't exactly have a lot of confidence in his mental toughness to overcome the weather and perform to his ability.

Anytime I hear/see these guys wanting to go to warm weather sites to play, all I hear is "I am a young, single man and I want to go to San Diego or Miami where the honeys are".

I use to work with someone who on occasion was in the same social circle as a very famous Red Sox player back in the 2002-2008 time period.

When asked about Boston women, the player's response was, "Too cold up here. They wear too may clothes."

I'm good friends with a former MLB baseball player who's from here.. Holbrook, MA.. and good friend of Patrick Mahomes Sr.. he's told me plenty of similar stories..

The NFL is more and more giving me NBA free agency vibs where athletes just don't want to play in certain areas. Like Boston for instance since it is cold and not a party town. However with the hard cap it will never be as bad. The problem is when it comes to the absolute top end players who can get paid at any number of locations... it seems like it is hard for the Pats to get them unless they excessively over pay.

Even then at what point does the money stop mattering to these guys. If the Pats offer Ronnie Stanley 28M/year (making him the highest paid tackle in the NFL and some other very good team offers him 25.... does that extra 3M a year factor in that much to him when he gets a choice between chilling in Miami or in Boston for the next 5 years?

No happiness wins out in that situation.
