It's easy, and only takes a few moments. If the draft is that deep in RB you can get a good one in round 4 if your evaluation is good. That's where we got Stevenson. And the answer is: No. They do not have enough behind Stevenson and Gibson. This draft is loaded at RB. They need to come away with, at worse case scenario, one "Workhorse" RB (with high receiving upside). Best case scenario, two such RB's, with one already being better right out of the gate as a 3rd down RB, but with every down capability. We can grab 2, while addressing other needs, from the 3rd Round and lower. Not doing so in this draft, combined with only 2 decent RB's on the roster (one with a fumbling problem), would be outright malpractice.
I wanted Braelon Allen last draft and I suspected he could be had in the 4th Round (he was and we passed). This draft is much better than last years for RB's. So yes, we could get 2 good to possibly great quality RB's in and after the 4th Round. If the draft is that deep in RB you can get a good one in round 4 if your evaluation is good. I don't want to see any 1st round picks spent on RB. Not worth it in today's NFL era.
Allen is beast for NYJ.. even though he kinda feel off down the stretch. I believe we could easily find a RB in the draft somewhere in the later rounds. Rham, Gibson currently are the lead backs. Under a real Scheme and blocking concepts the RBs will be much better next season.I wanted Braelon Allen last draft and I suspected he could be had in the 4th Round (he was and we passed). I think alot of was put on Rham last season as he just gotten the new deal. So he likely felt he had to do it all.. and under this OL and Brissett are QB he pretty much did. The fumbling is concentration issues.. and your right there was no coach on the roster last season to hold Rham accountable. However Rham fumbling isn't new.. as a rookie he fumbled and we never saw him much the rest of the season. It starts with the line, Rhamondre is no worse than he was when he rushed for 1000 yards... his line has fallen apart and his QB couldn't pass.
A coach has to hold him accountable for holding onto the ball, Mayo wasn't that guy, but he's still a very good player and so is Antonio Gibson who has had fumbling issues of his own.
They just paid Rhamondre, fix the line and watch magically as he revives his career.
He and Gibson were also getting hit behind the line of scrimmage, any positive yardage was usually an Olympian feat because the line sucked so bad.I think alot of was put on Rham last season as he just gotten the new deal. Yes the OL was herenndous it was total butchery putting put an OL like that. Yeah rham because of that became a great back his next season. He's everything you like in a RB he just needs to hold on the ball.He and Gibson were also getting hit behind the line of scrimmage, any positive yardage was usually an Olympian feat because the line sucked so bad.
BB spoke on the Coach podcast about Rhamondre's fumbling and how they cured him of it... Vrabel needs to apply the same tough love.
This ^ is the funniest part…Eagles and Ravens laying the blueprint. Hurts wouldn’t have been able to carry the Eagles if they had a crappy OL and ground game.
Ravens should’ve been in the AFCCG. As long as Henry has gas in the tank, they’ll be back.
Fans have been brainwashed into thinking because the WR’s contracts have been so inflated, you have to build around them.
That's right. For example a potent offense like the Bengals didn't even make the post season and Detroit didn't even get out the divisional. Coverage dictating WRs are great to have but they are a luxury.. OL&DL are necessities.Eagles and Ravens laying the blueprint. Even Detroit who was a phenomenal passing offense still ran the ball with Gibbs and Montgomery. Running the ball is still necessary in the NFL.This ^ is the funniest part…
Before this season we had people insisting this was a passing league now, running the ball was antiquated, WR’s were the 2nd most important position after QB…
Then a team that ran the ball in more games than they passed, ranked 1st in rushing attempts and dead last in pass attempts and had a 2000 yard rusher won it all.
So much for that…
Balanced has always been most dangerous, being able to run with power makes you a tough team, able to win in cold weather or the playoffs.Even Detroit who was a phenomenal passing offense still ran the ball with Gibbs and Montgomery. Running the ball is still necessary in the NFL.
Yes!!! Vrabel said it numerous times last week the trenches, running it and stopping it.. we can do ourselves big favors by signing Milton Williams and chase young.Balanced has always been most dangerous, being able to run with power makes you a tough team, able to win in cold weather or the playoffs.
He ran so much because Derrick Henry was there. Tannehill was playing some of the best football of his life there. Maye as of now has not shown he can do anything close to that so it's just a silly discussion.Im sure vrable wants to run to have a balanced attack. I think the reason he ran so much in tenn is because he had a jag qb in tannehill and had to keep the pressure off him, thats not the case with Maye
Tannehill had 22 TDs in 2019 under a ball controlled offense. To his credit he managed the game well and controlled the TOP. Since then he's morphed back into ryan Tannehill who we all know from the AFCE. In a season with a HC in over his head, a OC who admitted he couldn't even call everything on his sheet.. total dysfunction all around. Drake had 15TDs and over 400 yards rushing. Henry wasn't anywhere of a back we saw prior to Vrabel getting there.. he was a 500 yards back before Vrabel coached him. This why I feel like Vrabel is the best thing for Rham.He ran so much because Derrick Henry was there. Tannehill was playing some of the best football of his life there. It's easy to run with a generational talent like Henry on your team. Every team with him would do that. The Ravens have a multi time MVP and still ran a lot last year
Getting WR's isn't building around WR's it's building around the QB's. The line effects both running and passing. Any QB can hand a ball off, the throwing and dissecting the coverage is the differentiator.Eagles and Ravens laying the blueprint. Drake won a single game and threw plenty of boneheaded INT's all year.Tannehill had 22 TDs in 2019 under a ball controlled offense. To his credit he managed the game well and controlled the TOP. That can't be, I read the posts here. Maye was a top 10 QB better than all rookies but Jaden, and having a better future than JadenDrake won a single game and threw plenty of boneheaded INT's all year.
