Wolf has final say on the roster

Something else that people are not considering is if the Pats gave Cowden or Vrabel GM title they would have had to hold interviews and comply with the Rooney rule.
I heard something like that mentioned a few times and it doesn't really add up. Rooney rule is a non-issue. It's just a simple interview. Jumping through hoops to avoid it is pointless.

It just looks really bad too. What are the Krafts trying to hide by refusing to interview two extra people?

We (Pats fans) need to know who's calling the shots so we'll know who to blame for the mistakes.

Really? To me it seems very likely because the Krafts actions the last few years hate doing interviews. I think they would jump through hoops.

So it's not just "Washington did a better job last year". They did to some extent, but part of it was they just started better where it mattered and got a better player at the more important position.
I wrote that…

“Washington did a good job team building, NE did a crummy job. Washington was pretty well coached. NE less so. Jayden was also 24 and more prepared to start immediately, Maye was 21 and less so.”

The talent level prior to free agency and their own draft was negligible.

They also had a significantly better offense BEFORE the off season started. 5.5 in ppg is a pretty big difference

The Pats had a significantly better more talented defense.

I’d also argue they had a slightly more functional QB the year prior. For half of the 2023 season many people thought Sam Howell was their QB of the future.

A QB impacts the offense. Maye went onto an offense where he couldn't do much to elevate it because it is that bad. Daniels went on an offense where they were good enough that his abilities could make it far more functional.

Because one QB was able to impact his teams offense, they sustained longer drives (which helped the defense), got leads (which forced opposing offenses out of their comfort zone to catch up and helps their defense) and overall helped the team.

For what a QB adds to a team, the Commanders were better built to maximize adding a QB. If Maye can't impact the offense, he can't help the defense. Daniels could impact his unit, so he helped the other unit.

He just told everyone that he gave BB too much control. There is no way that he gives Vrabel almost the same power that BB had. Especially when Vrabel has only coached in the NFL for 10 years - 6 years as HC. He did a real good job as an NFL HC, but since when is Vrabel an NFL GM too? How many HC/GM types are there remaining in the NFL running the whole show? BB was the last of the Mohegans.

Daniels was 24 years old, Maye was 21... like I said.

Daniels also had better coaching, better scheme, better everything on offense... Mayo was driving a clown car, and Wolf provided a bunch of clowns to block for him.

Drake Maye was a green prospect, he needed a lot of development. Seeds only grow in fertile soil and Jayden Daniels stepped into an offensive that looked a lot like his college offense.

Washington did a better job hiring in the offseason than the Patriots did... players and coaches.

Bob is full of ****.

He has no problem with someone running the show. Vrabel currently does.

Bob has a problem with losing and had a problem with BB.

According to reports it was Jonathan who made Bill's life hell and had the real problem with him.

Thats true as well. Sad is those two were actually good friends but their relationship soured. Way back when, it was Jonathan who encouraged Bob to get to know BB better back in 1996 and was very supportive of him throughout the 2000s.

What I don't know is what was/were the issues in which caused their relationship to fracture.

The reports were as Bill got more power in the org, he would start to do little things that showed he had no regard for Robert such as blowing him off if they passed each other in hallways. So Jonathan viewed it as his dad being disrespected by the man he took a chance on and it soured his opinion of him. Robert's sort of a people pleaser so he would get along to get along. Jonathan wasn't.

Yea I read that. Not sure I buy that as the sole reason. Bill was like that with everyone.

Time... also I don't doubt Jonathan realized it was his turn to run the franchise and he wanted to modernize and put his stamp on the team. It's literally the plot for Any Given Sunday.

Ooh. I might watch that movie tonight.
