AJ Brown what price?

It would be my opinion that grasping at high cost WRs instead of building via draft is not positive
Some here want the quick fix and the Pats need to sign a FA WR.

I prefer the Tampa/Seattle way of drafting and not needing to address the same position every other year. Every year in the Patriots case.

Also bear in mind, the window is four seasons to get a roster together (3 really), that's Maye's rookie contract.

That's why Higgins was so intriguing, because he's only 26 and it would have just cost money. AJ Brown would cost draft capital (and a good bit of it), and will be 28 before camp next year. That's not old, but 31 is certainly bordering on that when Maye enters year 4.
I agree. I love Higgins too. But it appears Cincy is going to extend him. So I'm of the mind be aggressive. If a 3rd or 4th rounder gets AJ then you do it. Obviously we aren't going to give up our 4th overall.
Get at least 3 seasons of AJ with drake.. I believe the team will extend Drake prior to his rookie deal expiring. The team needs to gather ad much talent as they can be it draf, and FA. Even take a flier on adams once he's released. He could be a good veteran for Drake for at least 2 seasons while still acquiring talent. Just getting a "guy" substantially helps the entire offense where our current 3s and 4s can play within thier talent levels.

When a organization historically flames out at the WR position and thier isn't a goat at QB to cover up for it.

If the only things this team needed were a WR and a tackle, then I'd agree with you. There are a lot more holes than that, I think more than most people realize.

There is but the 31st ranked NFL offense needs new faces yesterday.

Shoring up LT the anchor of the OL once that is solved the rest of the line can play sound football. It was beyond embarrassing watching the LT position last season. On RT Wallace and Robinson were rookies and injured last season I like marrone to really help these guys. Jacobs will be back at dollar general. On defense.. we had 28 sacks.. no pass rush whatsoever.. adding chase young, BJ hill along with Bentley, healthy Barmore and taking Carter at 4 substantially makes the front 7 better. Adding chavaious ward at CB2 across from gonzo also helps coverage.

He is a time-bomb. After two games he's complaining about Drake not throwing him the ball enough. No thanks. Hurts seems to have the patience of a saint and somehow kept it together, but I wouldn't put that on a young developing quarterback.

I honestly don't think he would have to worry about targets in the 32nd ranked offense. Besides Vrabel knows what he's getting in AJ.. they have a relationship already.. Vrabel's no Siriani

When there was some sounds of an issue between Brown and Hurts, he was the first player I thought, well if we swapped 1sts with Philly and got Brown, that would make him worth around the 10th pick, that might work.....

Then the crashing realization of his contract comes into play....the he has something like 32mill in dead money this year, the Eagles would loss around 13mill in cap space by trading him.

0% chance he is traded.

You make great points. But this is the NFL.. things can change at a moments notice. If two teams really want to make a deal they would.. teams agree on compensation all the time with players traded... I can see a scenario we offered a 3rd rounder and agreed to take 16M of the eagles cap hit.. I'm no cap expert just a fan who wants the team to be aggressive in FA. So who knows??

Can we give up our first round pick for two of their starting offensive linemen.

My concern with AJ or any other stud receiver is a half has gone by and a ball hasn’t been thrown their way and they are standing in front of Maye venting their frustration. I would rather have a roster of receivers that ran good routes, had good hands and were unselfish. To me O-Line biggest priority.

Two first round picks and 35 million per in a new extension for at least 3 years.

And I still think the Eagles might not take that.

Ideally we build through the draft. However we haven't drafted a competent receiver that can make a difference in a decade.

When you have a S Barkley why the hell would you even pass it?? Unless they have 11 in the box... we won't have that problem we don't have a Barkley.

No Thanks.

Not directly like that, no, thats only in baseball. What you can do, and i think it was Houston that did it with Oswiellers contract, is trade for a player you have zero intention of keeping but eating thier remaining Salary. Signing Bonus stays with the original team so thats where the 32 Million in dead money comes from, because thats money AJ already got but hits the cap in 26 and 27 if he stays an eagle. As soon as he is no longer an eagle then it hits in 25. Usually when they are talking changing the deal its converting salary into signing bonus, im curious if there is a way to do the opposite but as far as i know that hasnt been done, and makes trading AJ a non starter almost no matter what we offer. Personally for 32 million of dead money id want at least #4 and as a Patriot fan thats no way in hell.

There is little chance that the Eagles will trade him. I give it about a 2% chance at best. And that is only because there is a possibility that Brown's frustrations with the team may be far worse than we know and it is heading for a divorce. But based on the dead cap money, it would have to be pretty bad.

Your offer is a dam good one.. I'm thinking a 3rd, new extension and agreed on spitting hairs on the eagles dead money hit?? What say you??
