Jason LaCanfora: Pats really want Higgins "He's going to New England"

Oh well... if he's banging the table that should definitely loosen Mike Brown's purse strings. I mean that's almost up there with a strenuous objection...

Please let us know if Burrow volunteers to actually give up any money instead of volunteering to get paid more cash now which is what a 'restructure' would really mean

It’s proven that Brown is cheap but I suspect he knows which side of his bread is buttered. Looking up their cap space they are number 9 with around $48M.

It isn't about cap space, although they are going to be screwed there too. Brown would have to pony up cash money to restructure' Burrow's deal and to pay and sign Higgins AND extend Chase AND Trey Hendrickson. Not to mention B.J. Hill and Mike Hilton who are headed for FA along with Mike Gesicki and @ 20 other players from their roster. Not only are they tight on cap space but some of the deals are going to require serious cash spending. Lincoln doesn't have a beard on the pennies Mike Brown let's go of. The Bengals are in deep bleep with that roster

LMAO, I'm not the one ignoring an inconvenient truth. I can ostrich with the best of 'em but not on this one. That Bengals roster is headed for a hella makeover

Not an easy sell that is for sure. It may be 3-5 years before this team can seriously compete for a Lombardi again.
In demand free agents will demand a premium to play in Foxboro
Washington went from 4-13 in 2023 to playing in the NFC championship game one year later, but it's going to take the Patriots 3 to 5 years to compete for a Lombardi?

Higgins played on the tag last year and seemed to be ok with it. Worst case tag him again and trade if they can’t get a deal done. As an aside I don’t see Bengals fans setting the seats on fire if Gesicki walks.

Commanders may have just caught lightning in a bottle like the 2017 Jags, time will tell

Belichick won a Super Bowl in his second season here and had three championships after five seasons. I am not expecting that of Vrabel, but if we do not field a competitive team that makes the playoffs by Vrabel's third season, I will be disappointed.

Tag is an immediate full amount cap charge and while the second year number is currently unknown, it's gotta be somewhere between $28-30M. Bengals have @ $48M in cap space. There's a reason the Bengals do contracts the way they do, it's so Mike Brown can keep his hands in his pockets.

As an aside, you'll note I grouped Gesicki in with the @20 other pending FA's and not with the 'big guns'

Again, we'll see if Burrow actually gives up any actual cash to keep Higgins there.

No one knows for certain but several sources have come out and said that Vrabel is the man. Reiss and Curran are pretty plugged in.

Never saw any of that coming.

I really hope the Pats don't overpay for Higgins!
Don't try to prove something by "setting the market" for WR's! He doesn't want to leave CIN, so it's going to be a pure $$ proposition for him. Not going to a rebuilding team, when CIN could be knocking on the door again.

If that's the body type you want, take a chance on Ayomanor or Higgins or Harris in the 2nd/3rd round.
Best of all - Savion Williams!

...and it just came out Cincinnati is going to tag him
