I agree, quoting Greg Bedard is a wikipedia move.... however.... The 2024 Eagles are a great team. I'd say they are probably top in the 10 of Super Bowl winners. I'd love to see how they'd match up vs the 2004 and 2014 Pats or the 2007 Team That Must Not Be Named. I think this Eagle team would hold their own against any of the Super Bowl Champions.
I think they have a good case with a couple others as the 3rd best Super Bowl champion of the 21st century. I can’t see any reason to put them above the 2004 Patriots or 2013 Seahawks who had more dominant regular seasons and also faced harder playoff competition

One of the issues with crowning a GOAT before they are, you know, The GOAT, is that the body of work is incomplete. Mahomes is now 3-2 in Super Bowls. Brady was 3-2 in Super Bowls, and Montana was still the GOAT, and people debated that Manning was better than Brady. It wasn't until the Second Renaissance that Brady closed it out. Once Brady won the Atlanta game, the debate was pretty much over. The Rams II was the cherry on top, and then the Tampa win was proof that he didn't need Bill anymore.

Mahomes can still be the GOAT, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay early to have those discussions. Let's wait until he's in his twilight to measure him up. He's the best in the game right now, but he's far from the rarefied air that Brady flies in.
Excuse me are you forgetting about the GOAT 1-0 Super Bowl winning QB Aaron Rodgers?

We're just like the Miami Dolphins who celebrated our SB loss against the Giants, maintaining their sole claim on an undefeated season.

I agree. I hate the Eagles but was in the unfortunate position of having to root for them to deny the 3 peat, and Mahomes another Ring.

Let me play devils advocate... maybe just maybe we won't be seeing them again...

They were exposed pretty hard... the bills defense I'm sure was watching that game very carefully.

This is my wish/prediction(lol)... the chiefs get to the playoffs 3 or 4 more years and maybe even get to another afc championship...

However... much like the pats, they will have to suffer through a decade of rebuild to get another serious shot at a superbowl much less multiples.

I dont see kc winning another superbowl for at least a decade.

I hope... lol.

The poster who compared their situation to the 2009-12 Patriots had it right imo. The Chefs dynasty run is over, and now they have to try and retool in very difficult circumstances to build another dynasty capable team around him, if he’s ever going to catch Brady. Mahomes is a first ballot HOF QB, no question about it, but the next 4 are going to be much harder to get than his first 3 were.

The debate isn't over or closed by any means. Kermit is only 29 and has just had one of if not the greatest 7 year stretch ever. However it's also true that its not a guarantee that they ever go back. What KC did and what we did isn't normal it's not supposed to happen. A lot of bounces have gone their way too like all the other dynasties. As of now though after that game let's slow down on the GOAT talk . Once he gets to 6 we can slowly open up conversations again but that's not a guarantee either. He needs to duplicate this two more times that's how great Brady was lol

It might rise again but a huge part of why it's dead is that the 3peat was an accomplishment that could have allowed him to be considered for GOAT even if he didn't reach 7. You could argue like you said over a 7 year span or whatever but without that accomplishment he's got to get a lot closer now and he's heading into his 30s so unless you think he's about to win every other SB then it's on life support and possibly already brain dead.

It’s funny how nobody remembers how unbelievably good those Rams were. And the only reason nobody remembers them is because the Patriots came out of nowhere, knocked them off and then stole their place. The Rams would have potentially been a dynasty if not for the ascension of NE.
The Rams were badass. I liked watching them when they came out of nowhere in 1999. They had great off-season moves before the season trading for Faulk, signing Trent Green, Todd Collins, Adam Timmerman and drafting Torry Holt. I thought they would be a playoff team, but had no idea they were going to run teams out of the stadium as they did often and win the Super Bowl.

In fact, they would've shattered records and made it way out of reach for the 2007 Pats and the 2013 Broncos had it not been for injuries during the 2000 season. They were that good.

The problems started for them right after they won the Super Bowl and Vermeil decided to leave. Mike Martz was a solid coach, but he was very stubborn. He's said publicly he didn't care what defensive coordinators threw at him, he was going to run his offense no matter what. This got him in trouble in the 2001 Super Bowl. The poor drafts started in 2000 when they made the most idiotic pick since the Raiders took Sebastian Janikowski in Trung Candidate. From there the drafts were terrible, Martz continued to put Kurt Warner on islands with a deteriorating O-line which eventually caused injuries. Warner was the scapegoat and was let go. They should've went on a 10 year run.

Sorry if this has already been posted, it's absolutely comical.

Both the QB and OL were lousy for the Chiefs on Sunday. Both can be (and in this case are) true.

Brady has looked a lot better when he was under way more pressure than what Mahomes saw on Sunday.
One leads to another, Brady had stinkers as well.

Super Bowl 42 wants to chat.
Chat about what? That wasn't a blowout loss. Brady and the offense got the lead late and BB's defense gave it up to Eli Manning a career .500 QB.... and they duplicated the feat 4 years after that.

Super Bowl 42 wants to chat.
Brady struggled against the Giants defense most of the game, yet still managed to drive them 80 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 2:42 remaining in the 4th quarter. Not even remotely close to Mahomes losing in the SB.

He got sacked 5 times. The unfortunate thing for you is PFR logs every Brady game log over his career on a spreadsheet. Anyone who wants to can toggle “sacks” to see the games where Tom got beat up pretty good. These not surprisingly are also Tom’s highest interception and fumbles games on average.

Hero worship is for children and teen girls… for the rest of us line play is important.

Let the record also show that Mahomes has thrown more picks in half the number of Super Bowl appearances to Brady

Brady: 6 INT in 10 SB played
Mahomes: 7 INT in 5 SB played

Not sure the relevance. The OL was abysmal in the Denver AFC Championship game and Brady still had a competitive offense out there. The Chiefs were never in the Super Bowl.

One is absolutely not like the other.

Like defending the wall for the former Patriots HC who is out of the league partly because he was about as successful as Todd Bowles as a HC after Brady left... that kind of worship?

Toggle sacks at the top and view the number of interceptions and fumbles. Poor line play effects everyone.

Nobody is saying it doesn’t. No QB is immune to having poor pass protection. But some QB’s are better at keeping their team in the game despite those conditions than others. Brady is the best of all-time because he had elite field vision and release time. BTW that 2007 offensive line that 3 All-Pro selections (Light, Mankins, Koppen). They still struggled to stop the Giants front seven. And yet the Pats still had a chance to win late in the game. If anything this says more about the importance of defense (for both teams in SB 42) than it does of offensive line play.
