Jason LaCanfora: Pats really want Higgins "He's going to New England"

Let me make this clear: HC Mike Vrabel is getting Tee Higgins for our N.E. Patriots.

The proof is in the pudding, but Burrow mentioned restructuring and taking less money (was he speaking about himself or the others?…) regarding keeping the team together.

Burrow could alter deal, lauds Eagles' cap control
If they have to pay Chase 30+ what is that Barrow can restructure that also allows them to give Higgins more than some desperate team like us will?

It's a nice thing to say and it certainly puts pressure on both the team and Higgins but I don't think it overcomes the tens of millions that are in the line.

Can Higgins walk away from his chance at free agency? Can the Bengals really afford to pay 2 WRs that much even if Burrow restructures for relief?

We'll see but if they do spend on the WRs then I'd change course and try and trade with them for Hendrickson or something.

I'm convinced you and the Real are one and the same person.

They share one basement and yell at each other across the room.

He's already told the media he'll restructure his contract if he needs to. He's leaving the Bengals no excuses. The only card the Bengals can play is if Higgens demands $35M or more as that will destroy the market to sign Chase later.
Higgins and Chase have same agent. I feel like that will make it harder to sign both.

Just like Brady and Garoppolo (and Edelman, FWIW). . . .

He didn't exactly say he was willing to take less money.

In an extended interview with the "Pardon My Take" podcast released Wednesday, Burrow was asked to describe how his five-year, $275 million contract extension signed in 2023 could be altered and help give the Bengals extra salary cap flexibility to ink wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to the lucrative extensions they're seeking.

"You could convert some of the money to a signing bonus, which will lower the cap hit," Burrow said. "You can push some of the money to the back end of the contract. That lowers the cap hit. And then when you get to the back end of the contract, you can restructure it and convert it to a signing bonus. You can also just take less money."

Later in the interview, Burrow pointed out that most players just convert the money into a signing bonus, a method he said he was willing to pursue.

He is essentially describing ways in which cap relief COULD be created, not necessarily what he's willing to do himself. He then later specifically said he was willing to convert some of his money into a signing bonus, which isn't taking less money at all. It's just lessening the short-term cap hits and kicking money down the road. That doesn't really help them keep everyone.

It's also kind of a brain dead take to say he's "willing" to do this - what player ISN'T willing to do this? Oh golly gee you want to take money that I'd normally have to earn later and instead give it all to me upfront guaranteed? Hmmm I don't know.... DUH! Every player takes that deal. That's something that the TEAM is typically hesitant on, not the player.

You have three players you are going to have to pay top of the market deals. Burrow restructuring his deal won't be enough unless they are willing to trade away Hendrickson and or Pruitt to keep Higgins which would be stupid. And the Eagles are likely to get gutted this year because they have several players with top of the market deals and only $18 million in cap space.

I really think this will be a mistake. I dont trust he will play most of our games due to injury concerns. Im not going to throw a fit if they sign him, but i dont think it is a good move.

I don't sweat the "only has XXXX cap space thing". We've seen teams figure out how to kick the can down the road. I would wager the Eagles will as well.

PF2... you just don't know how happy I would be.. imagine this. Higgins is 6'4 , 220 we haven't had a WR than can do what he does since Moss. Same body type and catch radius.. tee outside Deebo in the backfield with gibby, pop in the slot.. who will be able to slow us. We would be a top 5 offense under McDaniels.

Sorry 02’ but the Moss comparisons people have been making are ridiculous. Stats or not Moss is the best WR in NFL history. There isn’t anyone even close to him playing in the NFL. No one should be comparing guys like Pickens and Higgins to Randy Moss.

Sure, but at some point you cannot just keep pushing more money into the future or you become the Saints who perennially have to keep pushing money into the future just to field a team even though it is a team with little talent.

There is always a chance the Eagles are willing to sacrifice the future to win now. They can probably do it for a year or two since they are so stacked. I don't think the Bengals are in the same position. Their o-line still sucks and needs massive upgrades there as well as their defense.

Could you imagine shelling out all that money for a grp of guys that cant even make the playoffs? Star power is nice and all but winning is all that really matters. No way in hell I’m paying Hendrickson, Burrow, Chase and Higgins top of the market contracts to not make the playoffs. **** that.

Just his body type and catch radius were the only comparisons huck..

Yeah, but you are leaving out 4.3 speed and explosive quicks and exceptional hands. There is no comparison. If the only things needed for a Moss comparison are height and long arms then Javon Baker is a Randy Moss comparison.
