Buy and trade our way back into then we can be more frugal and efficient to try and maintain.

We can't afford to waste time while Maye is still cost controlled.
You don't have infinite resources. You don't blow them on 1 or 2 players when you need like 15

We have enough resources to make a few trades.

100 mil allows for a lot of flexibility.

100 million doesn't do anything for the draft. You are losing a pick next year to get Hunter. You probably are losing a pick in the first half of next draft and also our 2nd which would be a top 40 pick.. Those are potentially two solid players you are betting on one

A rebuilding team has no business trading a fortune to draft a CB or WR. Which is effectively what it would it take because you’d need to jump to 1 or 2.

Are you really prepared to trade next years first and at least a 2nd for him?
God I hope not.

First off of course 100 mil will impact how you draft it should allow us to fill a decent amount of needs. If we sign a LT, WR, and an edge player then it should make you feel less concerned about giving up the pick.

Second I don't know why your just conceding the season and putting us in the top half again next year.

Hunter and a 100 million dollar free agent spree should make you a lot better. I mean last time we opened up the wallet and spent we made the playoffs and it was Macs rookie year. With Maye going into year 2 if we spend our money well that should be a reasonable expectation.

Lastly would it really be a fortune in this draft to trade a slot or 2. If Ward goes 1 to the Titans and either the Browns or Giants want Sanders they might be willing to swap with us without it costing next year's pick.

I think Hunter goes 1 and that might be a fortune to get and I will concede that might not be the best idea but if he's as good as projected I'm still interested.

For me with 100 mil in our pocket anything and everything should be considered.

That's my point. Going up to get Hunter is not just costing you a 1 this year. It's costing you a 1 this year, a 1 next year, likely a 2 or a 3 this year at a minimum. There's a reason teams rarely trade up like that at the very top of the draft UNLESS it's for a QB. There's no position that's worth that much risk.

Also please remember, we had a lot of cap space in 2021 and last year. The market sucked both years and while we spent a lot in 2021, the guys we got besides Henry were mostly duds.

Looks like nearly 0% chance Hunter becomes a Patriot. It could have been in the cards but Mayo thought otherwise - which is funny, would you rather have the 1 and mayo or the 4 and Vrabel? I think the answer is pretty obvious. Hunter just isn't meant to be, sorry.

I'll give up Mayo and Hunter for Vrabel And what we get at 4.

But I have to believe Mayo was gone before Buffalo because it would be wild to think the Krafts' really decided during the game to fire him and then did it so quickly after the game. But I guess the way they handled it was shady enough to create the Grilled Cheese rumors.

Hunter is by far the prospect in this draft and other than QB probably the prospect in years.

I can understand not wanting to trade more to get him but if he's there at 4 and we don't take him that would be criminal.

Theoretically, I would trade up for Hunter, he's the best player in the draft.

But we're not theoretical right now, we're living in reality land, and in reality land, the Patriots can't afford to give up serious draft capital to move up one or two spots.

Personally I wouldn't hesitate to swap 1s the Titans and give them either our 2 and 3 this year or our 1 next year. I might have to stop and think if it were to cost more.

But the ideal would be for Ward and Carter to go 1 and 2 and then if the Giants want Sanders it might not be much to swap with them. We'd be motivated because other teams might try to trade up and they'd choose us because it's less risky even if they get less. In this scenario I think it wouldn't be too pricey.

Yeah I can't argue this other than to say let's just have some fun and go for the big shiny toy.

In my mind, Hunter is absolutely worth a top 5 pick.

He's not worth *two* top 5 picks.

Except the trade really is neither top 5 picks.

It would be a swap this year and a one next year. And With Vrabel, year 2 Maye, Hunter, and whatever we spend 100 mil I'd like to think the pick would be in 15-20 range.

Might need to throw in our 2 or 3 depending if we have to go to 1-3.

I feel we might land up Travis Hunter. Cam ward is not slipping up past 1 or 2 and sanders will get drafted by giants . Most likely browns would take Carter .

Just stick on to BPA.
