He is not worth a lot at the moment other than being a back up. So no need to think about moving him on, at least for now

I have seen his name tied to every single theoretical trade proposal thats been made this off season...

my particular favorite one was Milton straight up for Myles Garrett... lol, sure, I'd do that in a heart beat... not sure cleveland would though...

so whats he worth, if anything, on the trade market?

my personal opinion is he's worth nothing.

As we all know with so many media outlets and how players, agents and front office people communicate these days... the potential of JM3 probably gets us a 4th.. a poster said McAdoo was credited with developing him.. I say ******** that was TC McCartney all day. If we did move him to Cleveland he'd be the best QB on thier roster. The idea of Garrett terrorizing Buffalos tackles and dropping cook for losses just makes me want him more!

The potential of JM3 would net us a 3rd.. we got what a 2nd? For IR Jimmy? Personally I think we should hold on to him and allow him at least one more season to develop under McDaniels.. also maye day is known to take Unnecessary hits. I'd rather have JM3 available should he miss any time next season.

Why would the Pats want to trade him??
Consider the Jacoby cost $8 million last year this year as a back up JMIII only costs us a little over a million a year for the next 3 years.
That is great value, JMIII will probably continue to get better..
Unless it is for a very high draft pick wouldn't even consider trading him.

Personally I want us to hold onto him. Should Drake have to miss any amount of time we could still run the offense with JM3 thus increasing his value even more.

Unless a team wants to give big capital there should be no rush to move him IMO.

I can’t imagine he’s increased his worth to more than a 5th, maybe with a conditional late round pick attached.

Too many times (Bishop, Hoyer, Mallet, Garrapolo, etc) I’ve gotten my hopes up to have them dashed. Until a backup fetches a high price, I’m remaining a skeptic on their trade value.
Hoyer was an UDFA. What do you want for nothing?

Right now? He’s worth a fifth round pick. He looked good against Buffalo, but that’s a difficult game to judge as the Bills coach didn’t want to win it. However it looked like he had made significant progress in his accuracy from the way he played at Tennessee, and that combined with his physical gifts makes him worth something. However the talk that he’s suddenly worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick is overly optimistic. But unless someone wants to pony up a second round pick I would keep him and continue to develop him.

TC McCartney I felt should have been retained. Guys responsible for developing Drake and JM3.

honestly, we don't have an idea if he is yet a back up QB, that can step in and win games in called on.
we have seen him in preseason look over his head in a total vanilla game plan, and we saw him in the last game against a team that had no desire to win or play their top players.
thats the film other team currently have on Milton other than their draft due diligence.
o one knows him better than the Pats. I am sure they have an assigned value on him. if another team comes in with an offer significantly over that value, I assume the Pats could have interest. but if the Pats like what they have seen on the practice field and in the QB room, they aren't moving Milton

I honestly have no idea which coaches did the most to develop Maye and Milton. Maye gave Van Pelt the credit.
Yes as he was the OC. TC McCartney had the day to day duties of developing his techniques and footwork.. as that is the job of most QBs coach. I remember brady saying years ago when Josh was the QBs coach of how much he helped his techniques.

This is why I want to hold on to him. Yeah he looked great against.. Buffalo 3rd stringers.. but I believe he still needs another season of development.. he's already in the building he'll have top notch coaching and the ability to get even better as a player.

This is really binary.

If, in fact, he ends up being an average NFL starting QB, which is not probable but possible, then he's worth 3 #1 picks, because that's what a team would have to invest over three years to get one, just playing the odds.

If he's not going to be that, if he's going to be a backup who can provide some change of pace but not be counted on to lead a team to victory routinely, then he's worth a #3. Those guys aren't that hard to find.

C&P from another thread:

the question is value....

milton has value as a cheap backup, sure......but if you're playing your backup long term, your season is likely lost regardless.....this isn't a superbowl ready roster that hoyer can step into......so how much do we need a good young backup? his highest value to us, now that Maye has shown he's the man, is that he's cheap.......if Maye went down long term, you want a back up that isn't going to ****** the development of other young players......TBH there's plenty of cheap vets that can do that, too

he also has value to other teams.......is that value at it's highest right now, while he has multiple years on his rookie deal, after showing one good start, with a lousy QB draft on the horizon.......or is his value going to be higher after another preseason of work and showcase? because barring a catastrophic maye injury, talking robert edwards level, milton is really not going to see the field in NE over the course of his contract, not in a meaningful way.....so if you are going to move him at some point, you want maximum return........might that be now, with a weak class? who knows.....i'd say his value would potentially be higher after camp, getting him some preaseason starts and looks.....

but this all about what has more value.......a cheap rookie contract is all well and good, but when is his trade value at its highest? once you judge that, that is when you move him.........patriots have their young stud QB

@Pape

Right now, he has no value. He has potential value, and it's high.

He's a memecoin. Zero value until he doesn't.

Right now I’d say it is a 5th rounder, potentially a 4th from a desperate, kinda stupid team. A few more solid performances and that can jump all the way to a 2nd rounder.

Jimmy G had all the tools and looked like a starting QB and got a second. Milton is probably worth a 5th to other teams. Maybe a 4th if they're desperate. But I think he's worth more to us for now.

There was talk Hoyer was going to bring back a decent pick in a trade early on.
