McAdoo was a head coach so you’d think he would have experience on all phases.
Yeah true but so was Maty P with the Lions. Not an issue if he's not a coordinator.

I fully expect a Bedard column on Monday fretting about too much experience on Vrabels staff.
Most of my people think he's a ****in' blowhard.
I can't stand it when he's on the clownshow, it gets even worse...as if...

EPO is no longer a real style, it changes week to week. You would never call the 2007 Patriots an original EPO.
The hardest thing is some of the terminology, the words like Bingo have different meaning in EPO vs WCO and having so many WCO coaches will be interesting how they adjust the terminology.

Maye doesn't really fit a WCO though he could run it fine it does not work to his strengths as much.

I think the good OC's adapt any system to the QB. Josh did it with Newton, he'll do it with Drake.

The dynamics of how all these WC coaches work with Josh will be interesting.
I forgot where I heard it but Caley put in some of the EP terminology/passing concepts into McVays offense to quicken the calls.

As I have said many times before I don’t watch Boston Sports media anymore, but every time someone here posts about Bedard he’s fretting and whining about something. He belongs in a knitting circle.

I wonder what happened in Miami that Wes got fired. They did have a great WR room, but they also looked well coached and effective during his 3 years down there. Anyone got any info?

He apparently tried to coach Tyreek Hill, which is a big no no. I pity the fool who tries to coach Tyreek.

I loved the quote from Maye about how he has a couple decades of film watching the greatest QB of all time running this offensive system at a high level, so any time he wants a deeper understanding of a certain play or situation, he has a library he can tap where there’s likely multiple examples to watch.

Wolf hit a grand slam by taking Maye. The Patriots should be set at QB for many years to come.

If Welker comes in as Wr coach it’s really looking like our deepest coaching staff.

From Mike Reiss: "Slater was serving as the special assistant to former head coach Jerod Mayo, a position that didn't carry over to the new regime."
Yeah sad to see High and Slater go, but maybe Mike found that them having loyalty to Mayo would be even the slightest of problems.

Given NFL restrictions on communications between coaches and players during the off season, and assuming McDaniels changes the playbook and play calling system, how do Maye and other players get a head start on learning the new system? Are there old playbooks floating around out there they could study?

“So, I have a great chance to go back -- all those years of film he has in the little database, it’s all their play-calls, all Coach McDaniels’ stuff and what he did with Tom,” Maye said. “So it’s fortunate for me to go back and study it up and get ready for this next season.”

Wes Welker, who coached receivers in San Francisco (2019-21) and Miami (2022-24), is among the options the Patriots have considered, according to league sources. Welker's coaching career began in Houston under Bill O'Brien in 2017, when Vrabel was defensive coordinator. And, of course, he played for McDaniels in New England. So, there's history there if both sides feel it's a fit.

What makes you say so? They had no problem detailing Glaser role.. or Wolf's role.. during the collaboration last season.. the Patriots actually went all in to be more sound with the media.. and even have a segment showing KB and pop going shopping... this was NEVER done before. However McAdoo was the invisible man and never uttered a word
Which turned out to be a complete disaster. I’m guessing Vrabel has reigned things in quite a bit.

Wtf!!!! What-do-ya-do McAdoo somehow remains..

Not sure what your deal is, but your take on McAdoo leaves a lot to be desired. McAdoo is given almost sole credit for the work on getting Milton prepped this season and we saw the results of that prep in Milton's start.

McAdoo remaining is a good thing even if he's moving to the defensive side of the ball.

Seriously. You have the most warped priorities. You think that McAdoo "not saying anything" publicly means that he did nothing? That's got to be one of the most absurd takes around.

I’d almost prefer McAdoo was the QB coach instead of Ashton Grant. Grant has very little experience…should be Offensive assistant coach IMO.

Ben McAdoo

Yeah I don't get the Grant as QBs coach hire, at all. It's one of the worst of them Vrabel's made here, if not The worst.
The only role he should have here is to fetch coffee & donuts for JMac, BMac, Maye & Milton as an ass-istant QB coach.

The Pats are retaining Ben McAdoo for the upcoming season, one of the few holdovers from the previous regime (special teams coaches Jeremy Springer and Tom Quinnare the others). But the 47-year-old McAdoo will work on the defensive side of the ball - in a role yet to be determined - which as far I can have been able to ascertain, he's never done in his collegiate or professional career. Your guess is as good as mine at this point. Sometimes you see NFL teams use former offensive coaches on the defensive side to help them identify weaknesses and how offenses might attack them.

Not all this "a good coach is a good coach" ******** again. I thought we left it in the rear-view mirror with Bill's Family & Friends Plan...
