2025 Draft: RBs

I got a huge man crush on Brashard Smith from SMU. Easily one of my favorite players in this draft. Got a little Percy Harvin in him as well as a shifty change of pace back that this team needs.

Josh McDaniels and Drake Maye could make a symphony out of this kid.
Excellent find. Could absolutely see him as an ideal guy for when McDaniels goes empty in the backfield. I was enjoying his highlight reel but thinking he's an undersized RB but then the play at 4:44 happened and I saw exactly what you were saying.

Edit: Some more thoughts:

1. Explosiveness is terrific. He gets through holes in the OL in a hurry.
2. Having watched his Miami highlight film, I think he's better as a slot WR than he is a running back. Ideal dual purpose weapon.
3. His hands as a receiver are excellent. A number of dramatic catches with his hands.
4. Bit concerned about ball control. You don't see many RB highlight reels that include fumbles.
5. I don't think he has elite top speed. He's more a 4.4 guy than a 4.3 one I suspect. His short area explosively makes up for that though.
6. Don't think his judgement in open field is the best. doesn't always make the best decisions with the ball in hand.

I'll gladly join you on the bandwagon as a day 3 pick.

I liked the play a minute later even more. He stops on a dime, excelerates and proceeds to steam role a LB to reach paydirt.

Quick quiz. Only 2 RBs ran for over 100 yards in every game last season. One is Ashton Jeanty. The other? He's fast becoming my favourite RB in this class (based upon value rather than overall talent).

Matt Waldman compared him to Le'veon Bell.

Damien Martinez, RB, Miami 6-0, 232lbs

Only 2 fumbles in his college career and has only given up 1 sack in pass pro in his rookie year. Physical runner with surprisingly quick feet.

Check out the play at 5:50

What I like is that he wasn't heavily used like a certain Sun Devil this past year for comparisons.

It was probably the biggest question mark against him going into the draft process

Vrabel loves a big back.

McDaniels love RB's who can Block: Martinez looks already accomplished in that area. I'm not huge fan of Rham ftr.

Give me Skatta or give me death.

A plethora of RB's, there must be a few that would suit MD's offense.
