if you have to “delicate yourself to learning” then its “super hard”
Not necessarily. If a receiver has only been taught, " run a 7 or run a 9 route" as opposed to seeing the defense as the QB does, "if it's cover 2, do this or if a blitz, do this" then it may be super hard for them but some pick it up early.
I think of Edelman's rookie year and his preseason game in Philly ( the punt return for TD/Wally Pipp game) where Edelman, the rookie repeatedly had to show Joey Galloway where to line up.
One guy understood the system and one didn't.

Oh, I wasn’t saying I wanted him, just that I think he’s a decent backup. Milton is our QB2 and we just need to get a UDFA with upside for QB3.
I think you still need a vet in there. God forbid Maye goes down Milton hasn't shown enough to be #2

I think we’ve seen from a lot of vets, they might get you one or two wins, but they’re not going to do better than that.

I will say, we probably need a vet from Josh’s system to help everyone stay on the same page.

I think he becomes to this offense what Welker and Edelman were. Obviously not saying he will be them but he will be the 80+ catch guy out of the slot. He has all the tools for it.

he has all the physical tools for it

i am hoping coaching was part of his issue, because he's shown little ability to improve his route running and his coverage reads over his two years here

Definitely need a vet qb that knows the system. A Hoyer type to be in the ear of the young guys. Who is there though? Only person that comes to mind is Jimmy G, I know there’s gotta be others with substantial experience though.

There's Brissett (if they convince him next season won't be another ****show) and Stidham (if Denver cuts him).

I'm being a little hyperbolic, but seriously, he had the best rating, QBR and overall performance of any QB the Patriots put back there, and has as many wins as Drake Maye - what else does he have to do?

He looked good but he played against 3rd teamers.

I think he has talent but in no way should we go into 2025 with him as #2 without a vet.

If Damon Huard available?

We are rebuilding. I couldn't care less if we have a vet as QB3. Hire Hoyer as a QB whisperer if that is your concern.

I want a vet too, but if Drake goes down in the first game of the season, I'd be a lot more interested in rolling with Milton than with Jimmy G. or Brissett again.

I'm not down with that. Sorry.

Well, let me ask this. Do you think the problems with Brissett during this last season were mostly attributable to AVP's playcalling, or is it just that Brissett doesn't have it to be a reliable starter? If you think it's the playcalling, I can see why you might want to give Brissett a try again. But if you think he's a career backup who has failed every time he's been given the starter role, I'm not sure what you think is going to be different this time.

I prefer a vet is signed to be QB3 for his knowledge and scout team if Maye gets hurt and Milton starts. They need more arms for camp regardless.

Brisket is a JAG. Couple that will a bad line, mediocre receivers, sketch playcalling and a sub-standard HC he was not set up for success.

I'd be open to him coming back but not at $8m. I would like to explore the market first.....

Show something similar against an opponent who is actually, you know, opposing?
