We should understand that almost any hire would be someone who was fired somewhere else, is out of the game, OR someone who is getting a promotion (you know the position coaching with no coordinator experience). If the hire is a lateral, then it is someone not very important to the team or else they would require compensation (certainly, they should).

If we want someone who is doing a great job somewhere else, we would almost for sure have to give him a promotion.

In some sense, that is why there is such redundancy. We have passing game coordinators, running game coordinators, advisors. and assistant coaches for a reason. We need to have folks who can step in and help if someone is not quite up to the job.
