Actually, it's me. Been trying to keep it under wraps, but I can't hold it in anymore, I'm the new offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots.

Dude I am impressed. I had you pegged for the other side of the ball, thought sure you were gonna be our next DC

Days apart they interviewed Brown and Brady
I just don’t see either of them getting the job
My guess is something is going to get announced soon
McDaniels seems like the obvious choice
They have been really quiet
But they have inside channels to Josh and he knows to stay silent
Plus he hasn’t interviewed anywhere else unless it’s all under the radar but I don’t know why Josh would do that.
I’m good with Mcdaniels if he also brings back his coaching staff he took with him to Vegas.

We lost a lot of good coaches with that move.

Springer needs to stay.

By the way

Fun fact: Morris and Ulbrich were on the staff that blew a 28-3 lead.

There's no difference, it doesn't matter, if you know offense, you know defense, and vice versa.

At this point it's going to be surprising if the choice for OC isn't McDaniels
I can’t really put my finger on why, exactly, but yeah I agree. Maybe it’s the fact that both of their first two interviews for OC were minorities (which are both generally not rife with minority candidates) and were both lower tier lesser known guys. Maybe it’s that the media has been shouting McDaniels before Vrabel was even hired and have continued throughout. Maybe it’s that Vrabel was very evasive about questions about McDaniels.

All signs seem like they point to him but I guess they could also be looking to hire someone still in the playoffs and slow playing it.

The difference is that that’s way beyond the timeframe where all the date limitations have passed… Vrabel is still subject to limitations of timeframes based on who is still playing

Even with Vrabel having 'his guy' penciled in, interviewing other candidates is a great opportunity to pick the brains of some good offensive talent. He'd be negligent not to do it

One issue is that if you offer the job to McDaniels now you have zero contract negotiating leverage. Much better to interview a couple of other serious candidates first (Kubiak?) so he thinks you might actually have an alternative. That's more a Kraft thing than a Vrabel thing, but any dollars you save can go elsewhere.

If your criteria are someone who has been an OC already and also has experience coaching QBs, there's actually not a lot of choice.

He is being paid by Vegas he will make league minimum from us.
Thank Mark Davis

You're right, I failed to factor in the Patricia Corollary
Hey, Vrabel just said something similar, he credited Stefanski for forward thinking when Stefanski had Vrabel working with the offensive side, specifically the OL!

He’s being paid big bucks by Mark Davis in Vegas for another 2 years lol. He can get a two year contract for very low money and earn himself a nice contract extension with good performance in 2027

Vrabel is playing it smart. Keep McDaniels contact on the down low. Leak that the 2 rooney oc’s have benn interviewed, wait a few days then announce the hire

All I heard on the radio today is how the Pats made a farce of the Rooney rule, what the hell are they supposed to do? They had to interview minority candidates whether they were serious or not. Not sure if they were arguing the should have made it less obvious or not but it doesn't matter either way.

I think this is why people think McDaniels is the favorite and not really based on inside information. It is the Patriots’ MO to hire back former coaches who are being paid by other teams. I think if the Krafts are making the call, McDaniels would be the favorite. I just don’t see him as a Vrabel pick. Vrabel believes in the WCO and Shanahan/McVay disciples, not offensive coaches from Belichick tree.

Things are going to start heating up. When do we get an announcement, Monday? Everyone feel like the guy has already been chosen or do they start picking up the interviews? I personally hope for McDaniels. Solid OC with the background to gain serious buy-in. Credibility to work side by side with a strong personality like Vrabes. Not to mention he will be the safest bet to not be a flight risk anytime soon. I’m also interested to see what wrinkles McDaniels has added to his scheme during the year off.
