2025 LT

Jedrick Wills will be our LT next year.
Vrabel did help coach the OLine in Cleveland this year
But Willis’s PFF grades are not very good
Is he better than the grades suggest

I don't think he'll be an LT but I'm pencilling in Grey Zabel as my preference for 38 as someone who could be our LG, C or RT depending on where they want him. Watch the video below, especially the run blocks where almost every defender he blocks ends up on the ground. He's a mean mofo.

Also, here's his snaps by position over the last 3 years.

LT - 961
LG - 363
C - 14. (Low but this where Dane Bugler thinks he ends up although I'm hoping for LG)
RG - 3
RT - 1,064

Plenty of experience across the line.

They seem to churn out good OL a lot there.

There’s a long list of injury and effort red flags. If Vrabel’s view from the inside was anything like Browns fans’ opinions from the outside, then he’ll have no interest at all.

Very interesting a guy like Grey Zabel with that much experience across the OL is Ranked #21 at the position on one site. Right Tackle along with Left is a Must have either in FA or the Draft for our N.E. Patriots.

Tackle. Been playing RT for Purdue. He's very mobile, athletic, violent hands, great technique. He reminds me A LOT of another Purdue tackle taken in the 2nd round: Matt Light.

Both of them are the same size. I see no problem with Mbow playing LT or RT. He doesn't need to be a guard. He's 6'5" 300 pounds. That's not a bad size for a LT. I actually think he'd be miscast as a guard.
Well the issue is flipping sides. Patriots drafted a college RT Caeden Wallace with the intention of flipping him to LT. I don’t see him making any starts there.

Caeden Wallace has always been slow afoot and not anywhere near as skilled as Mbow.

#69 is Aireontae Ersery, #11 is Abdul Carter, who many mock drafts have the Pats taking @ 4th overall.

Ersery moved Carter quite comfortably in the run game which is a concern I have about Carter. I have wondered about playing Carter as a LB in non obvious passing downs with a bigger DE coming in for those downs. That's where Carter played before this season and would enable a coordinator to get more creative with him as a blitzer.

Ersery struggled a little with Carters speed rush but ultimately kept the QB clean...just.

For anyone who wants a good breakdown of the tackles NFL Stock Exchange has a really long and detailed podcast on the top 15-20 tackles in this class.

We need better pass blocking from an LT than Ersery shows here. He's big so he can get his mitts on you and maul you in the running game, but passing? Loses outside, loses inside.

I’m not sure if this question belongs here or mock draft fail, but The Draft Network had the Pats taking the first tackle off the board, Marcus Mbow at 4. I know he’s a very solid prospect, but this is exceptionally high for him, no?

I think so. I also don't think he's a T in the NFL. He is a very good interior lineman prospect though.

His hand fighting is among the best I've seen in this class. I still assumed he was a second or third round pick. I think he'll be a good tackle, but 4 overall is a bit rich for me.

For these “professional” mock drafts, one must keep in mind that the publisher’s objective is “clicks.” They will not get them by replicating the mocks published by 20 other “experts.” Thus they will often include some crazy things, often to show that certain guys are “destined” for certain teams.

I haven’t watched Mbow yet so for me it’s great to have somebody else to look into, it’s something I enjoy doing. I don’t really know what the hell I’m looking at most of the time but in reference to guys for the #4 position it’s a lot simpler, if they aren’t dominating at the college level then I’m going to be a lot less interested. That’s especially true this year in reference to an OT since we have no offensive coaches in place.
