2025 LT

If we take an LT in round 1, I feel like Kelvin Banks Jr. could be the guy. Projects to be an elite pass blocker on the blindside. He also played against plenty of talented competition in the SEC. Maybe with a small trade down to the 6-8 range we take Banks and get that LT position sorted.

any idea what we would get in return for the #4 pick in a year like this? Looking historically, not out of the question to snag an extra 3 moving down 2-3 spots with someone when a QB is not involved.

I saw Sunday he declared for the draft. If the Pats could trade down a few slots and still get him that'd be a winner in my book

As much as I would love to target a franchise tackle in this draft, the top prospects have question marks, and we figure to have a great shot to snag one of the only two "can't miss" blue chip prospects in this draft - Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter. I think those are the only two correct choices at 4. We'll still have a chance to pick up a decent tackle prospect with our second pick, but our week 1 LT starter will be found through free agency.

LT Aireontae Ersery basically shut Carter out in the Minnesota v Penn State game.(holding Carter to 1 tackle, 0 hurries, 0 sacks). I'm not interested @ #4 in an undersized DE that can be erased by a mid-late 1st rd LT.

Ersery is my guy, but not @ #4.

Bingo.

Because they blew their chance at #1 overall, the only recourse we have is clear: Trade down from #4, multiple times if possible, and take either Will Campbell (but ONLY if his arm length averages > 33"), Kelvin Banks or Josh Simmons.

And I don't care if Cam Robinson or another top UFA LT signs here either.

A small trade-down like that should be able to net no worse than a 3rd-rounder this year AND next year.

In 2023, the Cards traded from 12 to 3 giving up a high 2nd rounder (33) a 2024 1st and a 2024 3rd whilst getting a 2023 4th rounder back. Looking at the current trade chart, I think that's an overpay and I wouldn't want to drop back that far but if teams are lusting after Andre Carter or Shedder drops to 4, who knows.

Yes it depends on how far we trade down. But I'd expect no less than a 3rd round pick or two. Let's say we drop to 7 and get two 3rds, one this year and one next year that would be fair value. We have a lot of holes to fill.

I'm not convinced Banks or Campbell project to be anything but a Guard. With that said I'm still intrigued with Ersery or Simmons.
Campbell might turn out to be a guard because of his short arms. There's a lot of debate on if he meets the 33" arm length mark.

But as far as I've heard Banks is projected purely as a pass protecting LT. He's the top left tackle prospect now ahead of Campbell imo because of the arm length issue.

I think Will Johnson is an elite prospect. As good as any in this draft.

A third rounder this year is the equivalent of a fifth rounder in a good draft. I couldn't care less about an extra fifth rounder this year.

Surprised no one has mentioned Purdue's LT Marcus Mbow yet.

I've been watching him all year.

I have no idea what his athletic assets are but I do know that every weekend, he stones pass rushers who will be making money in the NFL.

He just handles everyone who comes at him. Penn State has 2 DEs who will go in the first few rounds, and he had absolutely no trouble with them at all.

Now I know he plays on the worst team in Purdue history, but he may drop because of it.

I like this kid a lot.
Good Scouting stater.

Is he a G or Tackle??

Tackle. Been playing RT for Purdue. He's very mobile, athletic, violent hands, great technique. He reminds me A LOT of another Purdue tackle taken in the 2nd round: Matt Light.

Both of them are the same size. I see no problem with Mbow playing LT or RT. He doesn't need to be a guard. He's 6'5" 300 pounds. That's not a bad size for a LT. I actually think he'd be miscast as a guard.

I'm glad you said RT because I was watching an edge rusher who was destroying the Purdue LT.
