Clock struck midnight and Darnold reverted back to his Jets form. Some dumb team is going to give him a lot of money.
Reality is if Maye put up those numbers next year we'd be calling him a top 5 qb.

I think Darnold has improved. Big credit to his coaches putting him in a position to succeed.

Also helps to have Jefferson and Hock to throw to plus have a decent running game...

Darnold was a product of Jefferson, Addison and a good HC. Nothing more.

Or
Darnold was a good enough QB to be playing for the 1st seed with good coaching, Jefferson and Addison.

Or
MIN was an average QB away from playing for the 1st seed in Game 17.
==========
Why does the situation change in 2025 for MIN? I don't think that there is any reason to rush McCarthy. Just franchise Darnold.

How much is the tag?

If we are strictly looking at numbers I agree.

I didn't see much of the Vikings, except their last two games which were their 2 biggest games of the year. And from what I saw, he looked just like Jets Darnold.

Agree. He didn't look good. Like i said I think he played over his skis this year but the team wasn't as good as their record and it caught up w/ them vs better teams.

$35M transition tag
$41M franchise tag
Too costly when you know at best he can take you to playoffs .

Difficult position to be in for KOC

Tear the band aid off and play McCarthy. KOC's got the goodwill from this year that even if they take a step back, he's safe.

Simple Really.
He got punished because of the OL being a sieve.
9 sacks?
IDGAS how many shiny toys you have, you aren't winning giving up 9 sacks.
And BTW, He had some of the Shiniest toys on the fkn planet...9 pts... lmfao

But he was holding ball for 4+ seconds. If that doesn't get you sacked what will.

I also saw that he had no idea of when to run and where to run when there are no options . He looked like stone footed Russel Wilson.

None of you pay attention to football and how they hand out contracts if you think he cost him self his next contract.

He's getting 4 X 30 bare minimum. Which is what he was gonna get regardless of the last two games.

He proved that if you have the talent and the coaching around him he can be a serviceable QB which over half the league doesn't have.

Not that he deserves it because he's way closer to the guy we saw in the playoffs than the one we saw for most the season.

4 x 30 is in between Geno Smith and Baker Mayefield contracts. I think that's about right. But if he had balled out in the playoffs along with the numbers he got this year, he might have gotten close to $45M per year like Cousins.

Whatever he gets, he would have gotten way more if he'd shown anything other than completely wilting these past 2 games.

If he gets 4 x 30, it means he was in line to get 4 x 50 until the train derailed in morbidly spectacular fashion.

Who was going to pay him 200 mil?

Nothing really. Played in a great system with an uber talented team. Same player still.

Darnold will still get paid nicely as there’s a scarcity of competent qb play. He probably won’t set the market, but there’ll be no reason for him worrying about money again for the rest of his life.
I think he returns to Minnie on a one year deal in the range of 18-20M.

I think that MIN wants him, they will need to give him a lot more. If they don't franchise him, there should be several teams willing to offer him $20M a year, some with a possible future as opposed to MIN wanting a part-year or one-year bridge.
