Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Just make peace with it brother. Dont try to make sense. Make peace. It’ll be better for your heart.

Yeah I'm bracing myself for that sad realization too... Not even the obvious low-hanging fruit of the offensive Line & WR "coaches" and the DC... Kraft is so ****ing cheap that it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if the gang's all back next season

Then I don’t give a Fuc about next season

Maybe AVP stays on for a year with Vrabel
That could happen honestly. Vrabel just worked a year with Stefanskj and I think it’s pretty well known that it wasn’t stefanski that fired AVP.

I can see Stedanski putting a good word to Vrabel for AVP

Listened to 98.5 this afternoon. Felger is convinced that Mayo is gone, no sources just a feeling. I’m starting to get that feeling too and I’m one that didn’t think come hell or high water that it would actually happen. Anyone starting to get the feeling he may be gone?

The fact that Kraft has said nothing to support him this week so far is a very good sign

I don't get why most of the local media and this board think Mayo will be back when Kraft is saying nothing to support his friend the coach.

Dunno. It definitely dumped on Mayo's screw ups quite a lot, and then sprinkled in some areas about "here's what he's done well", which was mostly boiled down to "some guys like him because he is nice to them and he remembers their kids' names". Which, you know, that's great and everything but it doesn't create winning football...

I'm not really sure about the purpose of the article. Seemed like it was trying to ride the line. It was also written before Tavai's little episode this morning.
If anyone has an idea on what BK will do, it’s Mike Reiss. Looks like it’s:
- Blame the groceries (bye Wolf)
- Blame Covington (okay)
- AVP survives (perhaps they realize he’s their only competent coach and critical to Maye’s development)
- But maybe, just maybe, they will admit Mayo is overmatched as HC and downgrade him to DC if they can find a HC who will agree to it. AVP probably gone if this happens.

But probably not. The Mayo debacle continues next year.

Kraft has not shown his face to the media in almost 3 months

Exactly.

Not since there were reports that he was asking insiders around the league about things you don't ask when you are confident the right people are in charge.

So why is the feeling overwhelming on the side that Mayo likely stays?

what makes you think this?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Stefanski is a connection for Vrabel. He would be able to advise what AVP does well and doesn't do well and Vrabel could adjust things to help AVP out a little. Although, tbh just getting a functional OL and decent WRs will probably allow AVP to be much more productive.

In my opinion Vrabel and AVP are a decent match from a culture standpoint - AVP is accountable and has expectations but is still genial. He is not super different from Vrabel in some ways, and he is very different from Mayo. I could see it happening, at least for 1 year and then re-evaluate. It would be good for Maye's development, also. They'd still need to make positional coach changes, like WR coach and maybe some others.

It should all be what is best for Maye. Forget everything else for now, get the best coach for him and if that means AVP then so be it.

I can’t believe that AVP is a better offensive play caller than Ben Johnson or Josh McDaniels, I have no issues keeping the current 3 who been working with Maye on a new staff, but not at the expense of losing a great play caller.

I agree, if the best for him is Ben Johnson or McDaniels and they are available then great. But I still think that AVP has done ok so far considering what he had (other than Maye) to work with.

Of course he isn't. AVP's offense is ranked 30th to 32nd in the league, and posters are talking about keeping him. So silly.

Agree 100%. They cannot afford to f Maye up.
