Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

On the flip side....

Tons of cap space
Top 5 pick in the draft
Solid prospect at QB with a ton of upside
Stable ownership
Major market

The league knows Bill needed to move on. I don't think there would be any concerns about that one. The Mayo/Wolf considerations will need some explaining as to why there is a lack of patience.
It's also a good thing to move on from the first coach after the GOAT, he was destined to fail, just like the next QB after the Goat. Richard Sherman said that when he was working with Skip Bayless and he was spot on, there was no way the next coach after Belichick doesn't get fired.

So deal with the bad PR but move on from this madness fast. Next coach won't have to deal with the shadow of BB.

As for your last sentence, everyone with 2 eyes and good sight (even one eye) could see why there was a lack of patience.

I see many here are feeling sad about the strong possibilities of Mayo staying, in my opinion there are more reasons to believe he will be fired, and I will try to make a reasonable post later, but in the end, we have one owner, not a board of directors, so reasonable is not something we can count on.

I'm really worried though that Reiss who was politely on the fire Mayo side, just posted an article in the lines of If Mayo stays there is hope. Come on, hope my ass, that article smells Reiss doing a favor for Kraft. I don't like it.

Ugh not at all
Burn it all down.

What a joke.

We are certainly in a situation of bad record with no culture. Or maybe bad record with an anti fan culture

AVP is the one coach I’d be okay with keeping. Mayo and his buddy DC can both kick rocks.

Pretty sure someone in this thread said something like this already...... Hmmm....

I was thinking about something similar to this. i was hoping Vrabel as HC and Stefanski as OC...obviously assuming he is fired by cleveland

Just read the article. Seemed like Reiss is sparing Mayo and burying Cov and Wolf.

If we subscribe to the theory the Krafts were behind it, then Wolf and Cov are goners for sure.

I hope that's just Kraft floating a trial balloon, looking for an escape route.

Dunno. It definitely dumped on Mayo's screw ups quite a lot, and then sprinkled in some areas about "here's what he's done well", which was mostly boiled down to "some guys like him because he is nice to them and he remembers their kids' names". Which, you know, that's great and everything but it doesn't create winning football...

I'm not really sure about the purpose of the article. Seemed like it was trying to ride the line. It was also written before Tavai's little episode this morning.

That Reiss article is hilarious. Spent the entire article gives multiple reasons why Mayo has been a disaster but then finishes with the lame tired Dan Campbell comparisons and says Patriots are better off being patient.

Count me in on being worried this is Kraft fed BS. I don’t know how they can possibly think this will placate the fanbase. Are they this out of touch?

"Hey Mikey, float this out there... let's see how the people react..."

24 hours later...

"Jonathan, how are the fans reacting to our article?"
"Well Dad, I don't think they read it, they're currently screeching about one of our players telling them to 'know their place' and making plans to boo Jerod for the entire 4 hours the game is going on, and comparing notes on the best signs to make to voice their displeasure to us"
"oh dear"

But Patriots LB Jahlani Tavai believes it’s not the right way to support ththe team!

I for one can lose 14 games in the nfl... i played ball in high-school and middle.

I've watched a lot of nfl... and played madden since it came out in the 90s.

I honestly can equate my experience and level of understanding of the game to an NFL posistition player.... maybe not a qb but definitely an inside line backer.

ONE THING I KEEP NOTICING IS THE COMMENT BY PLAYERS AND PUNDINTS:

"THERES A REASONY WHY THEY ARE FANS."

Very back handed comment to people that pay your bills.

Pats fans are not entitled pricks( the entitlement has been gone awhile)

I think we just expect to see progress over the course of the season.

Im thinking about going to coach some middle school team... work my way into high school... get on board with either an nfl or collegiate program as an intern... work my ass off for another 5 to 10years and then if I'm lucky I might become an O.C or a D.C.

If I can prove myself proficient at one of these jobs... i might then be able to be considered for a head coach.

What do you guys think?

Does Mayo sound kinda like AR or is it just me?

Oh….

As the other poster said, Reiss seemed to soften his verbiage after the Chargers game.
