WRONG.
Bill never played.
He took over teams and rebuilt them with the players who played. That's the key right there. You stock players and rebuild. Without it, you don't win Super Bowls no matter who your QB is, not even Brady wins without a strong cast.
He did it in Cleveland, he did it in New England, he did this several times.
He replaced favored QBs and every single time the idiot owner who was a fanboy of the incumbent QB, then threatened to fire or fired Belichick over their replacement.
Every single time, Belichick was right.
Testaverde over Kosar, correct. Brady over Bledsoe, correct. Dumping Mac Jones, correct.
The owners resisted all 3. The first one cost him his job. The second one almost got him fired in his second year. The third one was nixed by ownership and resisted, then eventually cost him his job. The owners were wrong in all 3 cases.
The only time he didn't make the decision to replace the owner's favorite is Matt Cassell, with whom he went 11-5.
