Content Post Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

How many times have we witnessed a Belichick team with less talent beat a more talented team in the last 20+ years? The game is played on the field not how stacked a roster looks on paper. Belichick more often than not confused the other teams qb and took away what they do best. He had fundamentally sound teams. Unfortunately Bill lost his fastball and the rest is history. Mayo needs to go.
Bill didn't lose his coaching fastball. He stopped drafting well. Bill Belichick will be a great football coach for 5-7 years after he starts dirt-napping.

If we don't hire a new coach, we will end up on hard knocks next year. Ugh.

What if this was all a secret plot by the Krafts? They knew they wouldn’t be able to get the best staff to come to NE last year, so they hire an idiot coach and de facto GM, make sure the GM drafts the QB, and don’t let them really spend much cash, then watch as things set up. They know going into 2025 they’ll probably have a high pick again and a lot of cap space, and hopefully a good QB already rostered, which makes the job much more attractive to GMs and HC candidates. Now on the verge of the end of the season they may end up with #1 overall which is perfection of such a plan.

Drake Maye, the #1 overall pick that can be moved for a haul, and the most cap space in the league? They can probably persuade any candidate they want with that description…

(I wish this was true)
LOL, you have quite the imagination. Think Occam's Razor, nothing complicated here.

Mayo is going to do the most annoying thing ever, win this game and screw the franchise and get another year.

Not the way this team looked,
The Bills backups will beat this team.
Kraft will hire a GM that GM will fire Mayo.

Hadn't even thought of that possibility, LOL. That would be so like Thunder. "It wasn't my call. I love Jerod!"

If Wolf stays on in Personnel and Mayo takes a desk job there…then you would know that’s the case.

Disagree. People should never settle for mediocrity. That's what simps & losers do.

The franchise just lucked into the best QB prospect to hit the league in years. It would take complete negligence & stupidity to mess this up. And keeping an unqualified coach that has shown absolutely no ability to do the job for another season is exactly that.

Rather than accept mediocrity brought upon by the lazy and half ass approach the Krafts have taken to this team, the fans can choose to rise up, boycott Gillette & force the Krafts to do better by the franchise.
The NYFL doesn't need fans in the seats to make money. They proved that during the coronavirus season.

Mayo seems to fit right in line with the other coaches from the Belichick coaching tree. I wonder which dead branch is Mayo's.

When the question is « what are Mayo and AVP does well ? » and his answer is « they aren’t quitting » that’s no good.

Basically what he is saying is « they are morons but they are still trying »

Well, then maybe we could see what this “leadership” coaching looks like.

Mayo was asked this morning by Mike Reiss “what are the most impactful things you’ve accomplished as a coach this year?”

Mayo stammered for a few seconds obviously not able to think of anything and ultimately answered with “I weathered the storm”, which is another way of saying “I didn’t get fired yet”.

There you have it folks - Jerod’s sole accomplishment for 2024 - “didn’t get fired yet!”

Mark Daniels: “Have you been given any assurances by ownership that you’ll return next season?”

Mayo: “I’m always in constant communication with ownership. I feel like we’re still on the same page.”

Not exactly a “yes” or “I think so”..

I’m a little confused by the last one because he didn’t say those last few sentences during the interview at all. He ended it with “I feel like we’re on the same page”. So I don’t know where Reiss pulled the rest of that from. But even with that extra phrasing, it doesn’t help Mayo - it probably hurts even more.
