The knot at the top of the draft order / remaining games

1 Las Vegas (2 - 12) Jaguars, Saints, Chargers
2 NY Giants (2 - 12) Falcons, Colts, Eagles
3 New England (3 - 11) Bills, Chargers, Bills
4 Jacksonville (3 - 11) Raiders, Titans, Colts
5 Carolina (3 - 11) Cardinals, Buccaneers, Falcons
6 Tennessee (3 - 11) Colts, Jaguars, Texans
7 Cleveland (3 - 11) Bengals, Dolphins, Ravens
8 NY Jets (4 - 10) Rams, Bills, Dolphins
9 Chicago (4 - 10) Lions, Seahawks, Packers

Jacksonville looks like the have the easiest remaining schedule... based on who we are playing vs who they finish out with, they might be able to jump us in the draft order based on strength of schedule... I have not gone and calculated / projected anything regarding that number, so who honestly knows how it will play out...

It is the reason why I would like the see the jags beat the raiders this week... let them move to 4 wins, it basically locks raiders/giants into the 1/2 spot (though that might flip based on sos)...then we really only have to worry about the panthers over taking us... worst case, we are picking 4th...

though in the 4th spot, we will miss out on Travis Hunter if that happens
1/2 - both will be quarterbacks
Panthers: I don't know what they "need" but its hard to see them passing on BPA, which is Hunter, based on what I've read...
Trade trade trade trade the pick. Trade it.

Giants drop from #1 to #3. That is huge for them since Ward and Sanders are likely to go #1 and #2. Good for the Pats if they stay at #1. They could pick up a 2026 first and this year's second from a team sitting at #3 if the Pats add a late round pick.

Maye needs to nurse his injury for this week.

He certainly should play any more than Josh.

If we sign Tee Higgins free agency. Defense comes into play given the lack of an elite OT.

Abdul Carter - LB - PSU

I watch every PSU game. He’s too light to be an edge IMO. Can move him all over and he’ll you get off the field on 3rd down.

Mason Graham DT Michigan

Him and Barmore would be a great combo at DT. If we sign a good edge in free agency like Demarcus Lawrence. He’d be a good fit.
Carter is a bigger and not much slower Parsons. He can play all over the front of a Defense. Like Parsons, he was only moved to Edge his last season. He can play OLB/ILB/SS and can play Edge if needed. How many of us would pass on a talent that could possibly be what Micah Parsons is?

Key to me is getting another first next year. A potentially very good QB class. Which will cause other players to drop. Or, another trade back.

Agree with this. If they packaged both firsts they could get the best non QB in the draft. It could be a big time player at a number of positions. LT, Edge, WR etc..

He has that type of upside but not as sure a thing as Parsons was. He's and option if you have 1 and trade down or drafting where Hunter is not available. He will be a good pass rusher for sure, he struggles a bit against the run, missed tackle rate almost 20% is really high. Can he be a 3 down player or just a pass rush specialist? The off the field stuff have to look at as well.

Much depends on what they fill in free agency. Could come down to Banks vs Carter and then come down to what edge rusher and what Offensive lineman are signed in free agency.

He fills a huge need, but they have several Huge needs.

Except for Maye and Gonzo, every other position is a position of need. That's where we're at right now.

If we hang on to the #1, there is zero confidence with our front office to make decisions that will impact this team for the future.. after the last 3 sucky drafts time to bring in some new blood to start to remake this team.

2023 Draft: Gonzalez, White, Boutte, Douglas. Since most teams average 2 players per draft not sure how getting 4 starters is a bad draft?

2024, I get the failure in drafting Polk, but Maye and Robinson are starting.

I don't think they have been great by any means but 2021 was when the "collaborative" effort started but still unclear how much was mainly BB

2021: Barmore and Rham
2022: Marcus Jones, Cole Strange
2023: Gonzalez, White, Boutte, Douglas.
2024: Maye, Robinson, potentially Wallace and every other pick made the team and UDFA Pettus is playing well.

We like to trash them, and I get it, but based on the actual results they have been pretty much league average drafting so, yeah, I doubt they will mess up a top 3 pick because the average GM, not drafting a QB, hits on that at a high level.

Yeah, they over-drafted Strange, reached on Mac Jones, missed Ladd but that's atypical most NFL teams.

100%. I am a seller at #1, #2 or probably #3.
I only sell if I get a 2026 1st, which will probably only be possible for a QB at 1 or 2. Otherwise I'm taking Hunter. The drop off from Hunter to the next group of prospects is too big to pass on.

I want this year's first and multiple years firsts, depending on how far back the drop is. Obviously, it's hard to get a ransom if you're dropping from 1 to 3. Dropping outside the top 3 should net a haul. Let's say the Raiders covet Sanders. They should be able to get multiple firsts, maybe even multiple second rounders for that pick.

I agree.
What they can do is make sure the younger guys play a ton of snaps. Baker and Polk, Wallace. Unfortunately, I don't think you can start Joe MIlton under the guise you want to see what he has. You can also not play anyone that is questionable with injury under the guise you don't want to aggravate anything going into the off season.

Honestly, I think without Drake Maye, the Mitch Trubisky Bills would still be favored. You can only sit so many guys, the roster is not that big and the guys playing for them will be hungry to win without some key starters.

Odds are low that Pats lose that game though. But maybe that embarrassment, if it did happen, gets Mayo fired?

Can we convince another team’s owner to give us a treasure trove of picks? Is this thing an owner?

Yes

Ian can this picture be deleted, its scary.

Yeah maybe. Bryce Young got a package that was outrageous and dumb so never know.
Raiders are a good trade partner because QB they get won’t be that good, thus a big chance for top 3 pick in 2026 with no QB in a tough division.

IMO as of today I want Banks, Carter or Hunter to be the pick, so you take Hunter or trade down and take one of those other 2. Still early so maybe someone else is worth it. Campbell maybe depending on arm length. Tet maybe depending on separation stats in 2024. Graham and Johnson are worthy of such a pick but not at areas as big a need as the other guys would provide. Jeanty is worth it but in reality, no RB is worth it. Starks is a Safety but will be good but not picking a Safety. That's pretty much the 2025 draft worthy list of possible players in the top 10. So, Hunter, Carter, Banks.

I honestly could care less on 2nd round pick in 2025, equates to a 3rd or 4th round pick in 2024 or 2026 based on talent available. That's like a 1 in 8 chance of drafting a good player. It's about 2026 picks to me. 1st and 2nd in 2026 at minimum and dropping no lower than 5 would be something I would consider.

I am still hopeful Polk turns it around next year if they get a real WR coach and a new OC. Tyler Hughes was Troy Brown's assistant and he seems to be as bad of a WR coach as Brown was (it disheartens me to diss Brown because he is one of my favorite all time Patriots).

And a lot of WR needy teams passed on Ladd. Some it paid off, others it didn't. Hell, you think if the Cards could redraft that they might even consider Ladd over Harrison, who has been a disappointment so far. At least for a few seconds.
