Baffling pick at the time. Taking a guy who wasn’t even the #1 receiver on his team in college.
Trading down to add an extra pick for a punter, or kicker, or ST guy like Slater, is OK, but otherwise I prefer to take the higher rated draft picks.

Trade down and draft who? It is a very weak draft. Sounds nice, but the devil is in the details. Who are you trading down to draft?
I thought that you believed that there 6 or top players in this year's draft.

1) If we pick 4th through 8th. I would think BPA, presumably Graham, McMillan, Johnson, Carter, or an OT if one moves way up by draft time.
... Obviously, the BPA players might change by Draft Day.

2) At 3rd, I think that I would want Hunter as a CB. If not, then trade down expecting to get one of those. I agree that we should get a stud or not trade down.

3) At 2nd, I would try to trade down with the Raiders if they give enough compensation (presumably including picks in 2026).

The patriots Wr’s are so abhorrent that a 5 rec for 95 yard day is being celebrated in its own thread like it’s Oktoberfest.
Yeah, preseason Boutte was in danger of not making the roster.

Today, he just could be Mayes go to guy.

TODAY, but likely next year Boutte will be #3 or even #4. (hopefully)

Why not Hunter at WR? Hunter won the Biletnikoff award for the best WR in college football. You don't want the Biletnikoff award winner to play WR? Seems very unusual.

I like the idea of trading down twice if able to around 17-20 and take Josh Simmons and hopefully we can pick up another 2nd,3rd and 2026 2nd. If we are unable to sign good OL in FA, I would love a 1st of Simmons and a 2nd of Donovan Jackson LG from the same ohio state. Jackson also played LT after Simmons got hurt. I want those 2 because they are very adept of passing off to one another and that has been a major problem this year. This opinion is subject to change.

Edit this is assuming that we sign Higgins and possibly Slayton or trade for another WR

2nd and 3rd round picks in this draft are very weak. Make all the picks we trade down for be in 2026 and the trade downs are much better.

True, as of right now the 2026 looks very good especially OL and QB

I mean he has probably been the only carry over on offense whos improved from last year to this year.

Nico Collins year 2 in the NFL 37/481/2

Kayshon Boutte year 2 in the NFL 32/444/2

just saying.....

We will likely have a revamped WR Corps next season. Names we should be in on.. DJ Moore, Higgins*, kirk, if we were to get say Higgins and sign kirk once released. Boutte is likely a 3 or 4.. wicj is great for him.. he'll be able to feast on 3rd and 4th CBs.
That assumes we bring in some new WRs. Unfortunately I have zero confidence in Wolf doing that. I expect a lot of exciting discussion about Tee Higgins and other FAs that all ultimately go elsewhere, followed by another mediocre draft. Maybe we get Hunter, with no other worthwhile selections, and then are subjected to never ending debates about whether he should play WR or CB.

Absolutely! There will be alot of options for us to give Drake what he needs. By trades, FA signings.. kirk is a player I've liked from his time in Arizona.. the guys game is just like Steve Smith Sr.
All we need is a GM who gets it done

It's unfortunate I had high hopes for polk and baker.. feel like bust to me..
Quickest way to improve them is a change in coaching staff.

He made Brissett look good against the Jets with some clutch catches including a 34 yarder against Sauce (who got fooled on a fake) and one to the half yard line, just missing a TD.

Boutte with his 1st TD against 3rd overall Stingley (for Maye's 1st TD)

Boutte with his 2nd TD against 23rd overall Elam, but the latter seems to be playing like a worse than 6th rounder, anyway.

I wonder how much further along he would've been had Parker not been in the way. It's a low bar, but Boutte's year this year has been ever so slightly better than Parker's last year. Out of all offensive players including linemen, he's 6th in snaps to 4 linemen and Henry, though.

You have a crystal ball?

How many TDs for Maye?

He has had some drops and issues but I think still worth keeping for another season.

I agree - Higgins is the X, Hunter is the Z, Boutte is the backup X, Bourne is the backup Z, Douglas is the slot.

I would probably carry Baker as a development 6th/special teams guy. Dump Polk.
bake is “special” alright…

My main concern as we parse out the various options for building the roster over the off-season is that Eliot Wolf, an "executive" the extent of whose incompetence has now been demonstrated over the tenure of two head coaches, will be the one making the decisions. Surely remedying this situation must be the first step in preparing for this critical off-season.
