Yes we would be much better with two $15M to $25M AAV wide receivers.

Or with a top free agent plus a top 6 draftee.
Absolutely! There will be alot of options for us to give Drake what he needs. By trades, FA signings.. kirk is a player I've liked from his time in Arizona.. the guys game is just like Steve Smith Sr.

On a team with an excellent RB, a good TE, and a very good WR1, you could win with Boutte as WR2.
I’m rooting for the kid. If he turns into a player with Jabar Gaffney-esque production I’d be thrilled. That’s his ceiling IMO.

Keep an eye out for kirk in Jacksonville.. hear they may be trying to get from under his contract.. he would be a Steve Smith type talent on the outside to play along with Higgins.. all of our current WRs are backups anyway.
Steve Smith, sure.
A homeless man's Steve Smith maybe.

No seriously.. kirk had some good years in Arizona.. the guys game is similar to him.. he would be better than anyone currently on the roster.. so I'd take the homeless guy in that case.

I wish we could be honest in our assessments here.

He's had 2 seasons you could consider "good" his last year with Arizona and first year with Jacksonville. 2021 and 2022. He's making top 10 WR money, and his face may as well be on a milk carton.

Also He'll be on the wrong side of 30 next year. If you're overpaying for fa talent, they'd damn well 1) be young talent and 2) be real talent.

He doesn’t produce enough. He has basically been the 1 for most of this year and makes about 3 catches a game. Before this game his top yards in a game was 59 and second was 47. He is largely a liability that disappears for most of the game most weeks.

That is the thing, he isn't a #1 right now, but he is being covered like one because he is the only WR that has made plays that the D needs to worry about.....if all of the sudden he is covered by a lesser DB, he will likely be able to produce more.

While the WRs have been far from good, there are alot of issues on the O that contribute to that, primarily a terrible OL that can't let WR patterns develop, a rookie QB, rookie (for the most part) OC, a questionable at best running game, and yes WRs have have had drop issues and from a layman's eye look like they aren't always in the right place at the right time.

I'm not saying Boutte is going to be a game changer, but at this time he has probably shown more than anyone else that gives some hope for his future.

But as a 1 he is a primary target more often, so it kind of washes.
I don’t see WRs being bad producers then getting a #1 added to the team and suddenly producing a lot more. Do you have any examples?
It’s ridiculous to claim Boutte is being followed around by the other teams top corner. That just has not happened.

He hasn't shown the ability to catch in traffic. He sort of backs away.

Boutte seems to be a decent blocker, however.

He also seems to have a big mouth for a #4.

I think he can find a place at the #3, he has shown improvement, albeit slowly. Beat an off-season plagued with 500 gambling charges or whatever and still came back focused. Hopefully under a good program he can perform. He has a knack for getting to a good spot in important moments it seems.

Ok. That's all good. What I'm trying to say here is he'd be a good option to have on the outside. Unless your overjoyed with the current WR talent. He's a guy that's a veteran would be a nice option to have to go along with a tee Higgins or whoever else we bring in here. The WR corps could use some veterans who played at a high level He's a guy that when released won't be without a team for long. He's just an option that's all.

Can everyone please - Higgins is not a #1 WR.
We've seen this before. His tangibles are alluring, but he's not quick or a dominant style of WR.
If he was the #1 he'd become invisible, just like all the similar guys we've tried to be that - Dobson, Harry, Parker, Polk.
We need someone who is an ace route runner and quick in his breaks. So much more important than size or 4.3 speed (TT)
I want a ~6' ~200lb ~4.45 ~6.6 3-cone, with quick twitch and aggressive hands.
Our #1 X, has to be able to win on double moves and comebacks and digs. He needs good speed, and great shiftiness.
Wolf - please find that unicorn in this draft!

I feel like I remember a time when Amendola was thrust up the charts after injuries to Edelman and Gronk, he had a tough time getting open.

Lafell was pushed up the chart when he went to the Bengals and struggled to get open IIRC.

I don't think it's as much of a "receiver gets better", and more "favorable matchups as the defense has to respect better players on top of Boutte"

Is why I've said if we get Higgins we still need another guy on the outside. We need to bring in at minimum 2 WRs in FA and game changers at the position. I haven't even mentioned the draft because my confidence is so low that we can actually draft the guys at WR.

Just wanted to make mention.. I believe we get the guy (s) by trade. Olave, DK Metcalf, DJ Moore all can be attained by trade.. we have so many other needs especially on defense. 35 Million is alot to sink into one player.

Agreed. I've put more emphasis on what @mgteich mentioned before. Getting that guy will be by trade DK, Samuel, DJ Moore, Chis olave.. dangle the 3rd for judon for a WR.. as we need so much more on the roster especially defense. 35 million tied up in one player...

Not if you have 100+ million in cap space

Yes, we could draft Hunter and REQUIRE that he be a WR.

For me, I think that we should wait until after the combines and his pro day before making such decisions. However, trade down a couple of picks and choose McMillan and you get a similar result.
Hunter already said he wants to be a WR.

Hunter is a can't miss. McMillan is a lot like Evans and N'Keal Harry. Tall slow guys have a much higher bust potential.

I agree - Higgins is the X, Hunter is the Z, Boutte is the backup X, Bourne is the backup Z, Douglas is the slot.

I would probably carry Baker as a development 6th/special teams guy. Dump Polk.
Carry Baker. LOL Are you in a wheelchair needing to walk again?

It's unfortunate I had high hopes for polk and baker.. feel like bust to me..
If anyone liked Polk they don't know a good WR prospect because Polk was a horrible prospect and worse professional. Even worse than N'Keal. Wolf personally picked Polk. Wolf has no idea what he is doing.
