Hire Joe Brady as HC and Robert Saleh as DC. Give wolf another 2 years because 1 year is too short a time and I donno if it's players or coaching which is an issue . Check if AVP wants to stick on as QB coach after checking with Joe Brady. Let Brady get the rest of his staff. Poach some offensive line coaches from eagles. Let Wolf clear the front office however he seems fit.

Firing Mayo won't look bad for anything, except Kraft's ability to hire talent with his emotions. Which is to say, that's everything for a guy trying to cement his HoF legacy. But, if he's not willing to concede a short-term mistake now, this team will flounder for the rest of his decision-making days, which is to say, hopefully not much longer.
If he can land Vrabel - the fan base will be ecstatic, and resurgent with hope (again). They'll forgive the Mayo-disaster.
I'd honestly suggest keeping AVP - just for the continuity of Maye. But, fire DC, and fix this defense.

You have to allow a coach to hire their own staff, but you could make sure you hire a HC who will hire an OC that will continue with a West Coast offensive system as part of the hiring process.

Everything about the Patriots has been disastrous the last 4 years (besides the selection of Maye). Otherwise, I assume the worst will transpire - including the retention of Mayo. No matter how horrible of a hire he was, Bobby K will not do the brave & prudent thing to fire him (which is what is best for the football team).
BB and Kraft have gaslit all Pats Nation the last decade with the platitude "do what's best for the football team". When it's been made clear, they will actually do what's best for them - related to their personal egos, optics & grudges - despite the football team.
That is the ONLY reason Mayo will remain HC. And it's a travesty.

Why do you assume he was hired for being black?

Given the circumstances that
1) the NFL requires minorities candidates to be interviewed
2) the NFL rewards minority hiring
3) the NFL has a program to help develop coaches that only minorities are allowed to participate in
4) Kraft is reportedly singularly focused on HOF induction
5) Kraft has never hired a minority HC
6) Mayo does not possess the requisite qualifications and resume to be hired as a HC
7) Kraft explicitly brought up race in the introductory PC. Kraft also couldn’t give a convincing argument why Mayo was the best candidate.
8) Mayo brought up race in the press conference.
9) Kraft evidently decided to hire him 5 years before when he had never coached a day in his life.

All lead to the assumption that there is a good chance he was hired because of his race rather than because he was the best candidate.

I answered, "No". Absolutely not. I give RKK Credit for making an impossible decision(Firing the GOAT Coach) and being Decisive on his replacement. I've said before, the Franchise has reset and we're starting from ground zero. There's no way any coach could come right in and change a lockeroom culture in one season. Same goes for Wolf. This region has no patience because we were blessed with TB12 for 20 years. The team has a first year OC/DC/HC/QB and GM, not to mention new coaches in other positions. It's not fair to assess Mayo completely until he's had at least a calendar year(But realistically, two or three) to mold the team and change the culture. We'll know MUCH more about this at the end of next season and by the end of the 2026 season we'll have all the factual data we need.

The team SUCKS. Mayo has a communication problem. I get it, but his players all seem to love him and play hard for him though and I'm not jumping ship on him until he's had an opportunity to correct the problems he was handed over from the previous regime. I honestly don't think Mayo is going anywhere and I don't think he should. At least we have our QB and a TON of teams have taken a LOT longer to find that than we did. GO PATS!

Should Herbert overthrowing two balls be the difference between Mayo returning or not? It doesn't make sense. Everyone knows Mayo is gone mid-season if the struggles continue. The difference is there will be no Vrabel or Ben Johnson available most likely.

Because the last three games weren't critical for him. They were hedging their bets saying he needed a total collapse. Aka: "we are keeping him unless he ****s up so catastrophically bad that we feel forced to move on". All this Bills game did was end that discussion because now you have a close contest against a top tier team for him to pass that admittedly low bar.

They never lost trust. They wanted every single out they could without directly saying "Mayo can't do anything that would get him fired".

Kraft doesn't want to be an owner who only gives someone one year and by all accounts the front office already viewed this as a lost year anyways with the roster and came in with the intention of everyone getting a mulligan until next year when they were able to make improvements.

Also Ben Johnson was never coming here and Vrabel likely wasn't without Wolf being fired.

Now, they are in a situation where if Mayo gets terminated next year, there's a lack of candidates to take over.

While it was fun to see a close game for a change, I hate that this is going to cool down Mayo’s seat.

Watching the post game coverage, Curran is going with a HARD SELL about how AVP makes boneheaded mistakes and might need to be the one who goes. That’ll be the narrative from the Mayo camp this week.

There are 12 of us as of this moment, and unless a poll tells me who will replace Mayo, I will vote no. This is a team we knew would lose in 2024, has the highest unspent cap space going into 2025 and is currently projected to have the #2 pick in every round of the next draft. This is what a rebuild looks like.

What exactly did you expect in 2024? A team that went 7-10 and got mired in the middle of the 2025 draft? Oh, great, the Patriots miss the playoffs and get to draft 11 or 12 in every round?

The roster needs a major overhaul, especially the offensive line. They have the resources to do that. This coaching staff will enter 2025 with a year together knowing what they have and what they need to take the next step.

Mayo had one good half as a coach. Opened with a more aggressive offensive approach, called a couple timely time outs.
Let's not read too much into this. Buffalo coming off two tough road games, Chiefs, Lions, obviously experiencing a letdown. Drake did some really good things, took a real beating, and rushed some throws that were costly. I'm not going to overreact to one half of decent football. Let's see how they do against a hungry Chargers team and if Buffalo hasn't anything to play for in week 17, it won't be pretty.

You can do a lot with the #2 pick with the right trade partner and a ton of cap space, not to mention a top tier you g QB with a particular set of skills. If that’s not appealing to an offensive coordinator than I don’t know what is. A unspoiled Qb with very few bad tendencies and bad habits I think would be a oc or Qb coaches dream. Mold him in your vision.

I wish there was a maybe option to vote for. You know you can get Ben Johnson sure I will pack Mayo’s bags myself. Huge cap space, a high draft pick, and a talented young possible star at QB are all intriguing options if you are getting the best available hope for the future. Now you tell me potential hires are concerned about lack of talent, poor buy in and patience from ownership, and perhaps Kraft not opening the wallet so FAs WANT to come here…. Well now we are possibly getting the next Mayo and in that case I’d rather stick with what Drake knows for continuity. One of the worst things you can do to a young QB is keep expecting him to learn new offenses that make different things points of emphasis. Having to draft different skill sets to fit the offense you want to run every year will get you no where, just starting over year after year after year.

If the patriots are serious about contending during Drakes rookie contract then yes I want Mayo gone but that means buy in from the top down with a financial commitment to excellence. If what’s happened the last 6 years is any indication they will try to find a bargain and the whole thing would just be a waste of time so I’d vote no.
