Didn’t Bob always say he felt like Brady was a son to him?
Too bad he didn’t let THAT son have a partial ownership stake.
That would be a great voice to have in the football decision room.
“Wait! You want to make the Jerod Mayo the HC of the Pats,
a professional football team,
as their head coach…
Because he did WHAT??!!”
He could, but the players ran McDaniels out of the locker room.Brady is going to have a huge saying there and they are both friends with Tom.
If the Krafts follow through with the plan to throw AVP under the bus, there won’t be a single NFL caliber OC willing to work for a duplicitous, incompetent, head coach entering a lame duck season, who will throw him under the bus at the first sign of trouble.Exactly. That’s what Jonathan was grousing about in the box, not Covington or the Condiment. AVP is gone, and he’s the least of the team’s problems, and probably their most competent coach.
Bob has lost about 20 mph off his pedestrian 85 mph fastball. BB’s early success and continued brilliance protected Patriots Nation from a below average owner. Now Bob is an elderly man being scammed by a nice telemarketer named Mayo and Jonathan has yet to do something about it.
a few retreads I think about. If the Krafts follow through with the plan to throw AVP under the bus, there won’t be a single NFL caliber OC willing to for a duplicitous, incompetent, head coach entering a lame duck season, who will throw him under the bus at the first sign of trouble.
Running it back with Mayo, Covington & whatever POS OC that would take a job under Mayo would be an unmitigated disaster. 0 & 17 would not be off the table & Maye would be looking at 3 OCs on his first 3 seasons.
Not to mention, the fan base won’t be fooled into believe AVP was the issue and season ticket sales would fall off the cliff. The stadium will be empty & it will be impossible to sell tickets on the secondary market.
I wonder if they could come to an agreement with McDaniels under Vrabel (it would have to be verbal) that he WILL NOT seek a Head Coach opportunity for at least 4 years. I’m sure he isn’t looking for that right now anyway, but if he hits it off with Maye, I bet teams will come calling for him again in 2 years tops. They’d need to have some assurances of stability, not just with him but the guys under him that he would inevitably pilfer when he leaves. If the Krafts follow through with the plan to throw AVP under the bus, there won’t be a single NFL caliber OC willing to work for a duplicitous, incompetent, head coach entering a lame duck season, who will throw him under the bus at the first sign of trouble.

McDaniels failed twice as a head coach, and had that weird situation with the Colts. Great offensive mind, but I am not sure anyone wants him as a head coach. I understand he is not going to UNC.I wonder if they could come to an agreement with McDaniels under Vrabel (it would have to be verbal) that he WILL NOT seek a Head Coach opportunity for at least 4 years. I guess things change and teams can have short memories.I wonder if they could come to an agreement with McDaniels under Vrabel (it would have to be verbal) that he WILL NOT seek a Head Coach opportunity for at least 4 years. Don't think that's even necessary after the last few years, I doubt he would be considered for a coaching job and will be looked at as a good OC.I wonder if they could come to an agreement with McDaniels under Vrabel (it would have to be verbal) that he WILL NOT seek a Head Coach opportunity for at least 4 years. You speak as if Mayo is competent manipulative genius. NOT!Yep, AVP and Covington are getting pushed under the bus by Mayo. He knows how to manipulate the old man. So the empty-headed CEO coach gets another year, maybe even two.
If what you are saying is true, Mayo would never been guaranteed the job as part of his last contract (speculation, but it doesn't matter) or hired as HC. Word is Jonathan didn't want Mayo. There is no way Wolf said, "Mayo is the guy." And if he consulted Robin on football matters, that just proves Robert shouldn't be making decisions. So, I am forced to conclude that Mayo took advantage of an elderly, impaired man to weasel his way into the job by endearing himself to the old man, and there is evidence for that. Scammers target the elderly because they are easy marks. It doesn't take a genius to scam an old man, it just takes someone who can identify soft spots, and Mayo found Kraft's.You speak as if Mayo is competent manipulative genius. NOT!
Mayo will not convince Robert of anything by blaming Covington and AVP.

There are three folks that Robert would consult within the organization: Jonathan, Wolfe and Robin. That is in addition to those around the NFL that he has on speed dial.
We already knew what the stats were going to say, but it nice to see it in print. The Patriots have been credited with contacting the quarterback 98 times this season, according to ESPN Research, which ranks last in the NFL. The next closest team is the Panthers
the demise of the defense has arguably been the bigger storyline, in part because it is Mayo's expertise as a former linebacker and defensive assistant.
60.8 QBR is 30th in the NFL -- ahead of only the Panthers (64.7) and Jaguars (62.8) -- and on pace to be their worst allowed in a season since ESPN began tracking the metric in 2006
- 3.7 touchdown/interception ratio (22/6) ranks 27th and on pace to be their worst in a season in franchise history.
What happened to the Patriots' defense this season?

Wonder if one of Robert's blonde chippies over the years revealed to Mayo at some point......"Want the keys to the castle, nickname his junk. Works every time"We should keep Mayo because we like being last in the league? LOL. RK had been planning on Mayo. RK hand picked Mayo. RK is clueless how to run this team.
Taking a top 10 defense last year and transforming it into a defense performing the worst in franchise history with the exact same players as last year (plus Christian Gonzalez!) against a pretty low strength of schedule is indefensible. The Patriots have been credited with contacting the quarterback 98 times this season, according to ESPN Research, which ranks last in the NFL. Happy Ending Bob is delusional
One style created the conflict between the coach and the press, the other creates controversy that brings in the players. It is difficult enough to keep a team together and focused during a rebuild without needlessly adding fuel to the fire.I feel about Mayo and his PR blunders the same way I felt about Bill being an ass to the press. I don't really care as long as the coaching is good. The problem for Mayo is that he doesn't have much to show for his coaching so his PR blunders are what we have to talk about.
