It’s hard to know who gets the credit for Maye’s development. It could be Macadoo, it could be Van Pelt. But Van Pelt is above Macadoo so he gets ultimate credit or blame. However the play calling has been really bad, and that’s on Van Pelt. Ultimately the only thing that really matters to me is that they stay in a form of the west coast offense. I don’t want them changing systems on him, so no return to the Erhardt-Perkins offense.

I get what you are saying. And I realize we can debate how well AVP is doing. I am not really sure where I stand. I do not think he is doing a great job but still better then head coach and DC.
But, I think with all of the problems with WR and OL we still have an offense that has been able to move the ball. Statistically they are improving and watching them I see improvement. I do not know what calls AVP can make when the OL is so weak and the WR get no separation. I think he should stay. He has shown improvement in areas where improvement can be made that's all.

Your post seemed like it is trying to place all the blame on ownership. Ownership isn't the problem until they start firing HCs 3 games into the regular season or sticking with a HC or GM after multiple failed seasons.

At this point it's still too soon to blame Wolf IMO but there definitely appears to be some dysfunction from the coaching staff which is a problem.

If Wolf tries to move on from Mayo in offseason and is blocked by the ownership then I think it is fair to then blame ownership.

He lucked into Maye which solved the biggest problem and proceeded to use all those assets to make the OL and Wr units even worse than they were and add absolutely nothing to the defense, not even replacing the players that were lost.

This FA was terrible in terms of talent. Trent Brown was the second best LT available and Owenu was considered the best young OL available and they resigned him, and he hasn't exactly been a bright spot on the offense but at least he is serviceable.

Again, who should they have signed that they missed out on? Again you have to add additional cost to any player they missed out on since the Pats were probably the least desirable landing spot this past FA

Nothing wrong with paying for talent, but overpaying for low quality players is a surefire way to set a team back.

My point about increase in pay, is you can't say player x cost 10mil therfore we should have paid 10mil for player x, because player x might have required a multi year contract at 15mil per year to join the Pats.

No. Having Agholor, Smith and JUJU cause salary cap issues and led to a lack of talent on the roster.

That's what bad cap management does.

This team was not ready to be a contender. They tried trading for Aiyuk but he vetoed it.

Next year with the cap space and draft position this team should be a playoff team. This was always a rebuild year and preserving cap space for high talent instead of overpaying vets was the right decision

The patriots spent the least cash on players from 2016-2023 in the NFL. If you expand that to krafts entire tenure it’s basically the same.
