This statement alone says Covington should be fired

It’s the same thing.

Are we supposed to be proud because they show up driving nice cars?

Rather than continuing to repeat yourself maybe you can try to explain what you think the difference is.
Mystified as to what the difference is between “be proud that they show up to work” and “be proud of THE WAY they show up to work”. To me it’s the same thing. If you want to dig deep into semantics territory, you can say he was trying to tell reports to be proud of the methodology by which they arrive to work which is nonsense. Be proud of their chosen forms of transportation? You could alternatively try to argue that he meant reporters should be proud of their… demeanor? Maybe? When they arrive to work? But that’s grasping at straws and still really doesn’t mean anything or make it better than the original interpretation.

Dude... smh.
WTH kind of question is that? It's Andy. He'll go with any argument at any time. And whichever side he takes will invariably and inevitably be declared victorious. If you're honest with yourself, you already know the outcome
I mean I just think it's funny that someone who was one of the predominate voices a few years ago crying about politics being discussed on this board and demanding it be shutdown now all of a sudden wants us to go on diatribes about"

"Well we live in a country that is trying to push DEI. Burying your head in the sand about it because it’s uncomfortable doesn’t make it go away.

Believing that what many people and many parts of our government are pushing for is actually happening and that when the press conference announcing the hiring was heavily about race, does not expose one as a racist."

Because a coach is black.

Not sure who you are taking about but I never said anything about shutting down anything.

I got involved here because someone made a thinly veiled accusation that a poster was racist for saying the guy who wasn’t qualified and made his introduction press conference about race may have been hired based upon the DEI movement in a league that forced you to at least do DEI interviews and rewards you with draft picks when you have a minority promoted from your staff

But you need to represent the work mob, so there it is.

And the guy who made the hiring decision said he didn't see color.
Same guy who pleaded innocent to serial handies
Same guy who effused publicly of his endless love for his dear departed "sweetie" while playing sugar daddy to his blonde sugar baby actress.

Yes.....believe Robert at face value.
Forego critical thinking.

So Mayo being proud that he's a black HC which isn't as common in the NFL and the first for the team isn't saying that's why he got hired.
I refer to Mayo's very clear, very direct words. “I appreciate that the organization selected me to be a Black head coach,”

You believe Kraft's nonsense, dismiss Mayo's definitive statement....gotcha

100% this. In the piece linked in the OP Covington also added:
“So, trying to get a W. That’s how I look at it, I’m trying to get a W. That’s the most important thing to me, is winning.”

That bastard, it's blindfold and cigarette time

Unlike some other posters, I know the Pats have not become the Jete. Some of their supposed 'fans' though, they're definitely morphing into Jete fan territory. After 20 years of unheard of success the team is stumbling a bit in finding its way forward. By all means let's behave like a bunch of entitled children about it and take offense to every random comment.
Stumbling "a bit"? Since brady walked out that door the club is 32-50 (including the Buffalo playoff ass kicking). That's a .390 winning percentage. Fans around here spent year's laughing at teams like Cleveland...guess what? Over the same period that Krafty's team has posted that gaudy .390, the Browns are .484 and actually have a post season win. This team, this franchise is a complete ****ing joke - from the owner down to the coach and 90% of the players.
No one wants to play here, no one wants to sign here for bologna sandwiches and Patriot Place gift cards, only to have Krafty Bob show up at practice with his trusty stop watch. This team, mark my words, will not sniff the playoffs for a long time. We are entering the franchise's long winter of discontent. We're going on four seasons of no playoffs and two in a row of totally uncompetitive football.
Since entering the NFL, the longest playoff drought for the New England Patriots (not Boston Patriots) has been seven seasons (1987-1993) and the second longest drought is for the New England Patriots is five seasons, beginning with the first season in Foxboro as the New England Patriots in 1971 through the 1975 season. They made the tournament in 1975. If "stumbling a bit" is knocking on the door of the worst playoff drought in team history, I have some swampland down in FL to sell you.
I made a very similar post last season and the season before and was summarily reported by the footie pajama crowd, and guess what, I was right. The San Diego game on 12/28 will be played in front of a half filled stadium. San Diego fans do not travel so there won't be the usual 10-20% road fans in Krafty's stadium that has been the case the last couple of seasons.
There are 8 or 9 teams well ahead of Krafty Bob's outfit in the American Football Conference. Krafty's charges are not leapfrogging Buffalo, Miami, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Houston, KC, San Diego, and Denver in the next few seasons. Those clubs all have competent coaching and owners that aren't begging the broadcast networks for air time coming out of commercial breaks. Maybe the Pats sneak in as the last WC if there are some long term QB injuries to several of the aforementioned teams, but short of that, teams generally don't go from 3 or 4 wins to the playoffs. And lest we forget, Drake Maye's contract is only through 2027 with a Krafty Bob option for 2028....does anyone see Krafty Bob picking up that option? I don't see Krafty extending Maye early knowing how much of a cheap **** he is (bologna sandwiches, worst weight room in NFL, etc). And why would Maye want to play here?
I really hope this changes but Krafty Bob has lost complete control of the franchise. He was hyper focused on the Dynasty, making himself look good, ****ting on Belichick, and promoting his social justice causes, and as such, the franchise has once again become a laughingstock.

It is a bit confusing. Look at it this way…you go to work with a good attitude even though the company has gone into the ****ter recently as opposed to having a bad attitude at a ****ty company. I think that’s what is meant by “the way they show up to work”.

So the guy who actually has the power is lying but the guy think is an incompetent hire is the one who is giving the real information lol

Kraft was in the same position from 1994 through the time Brady walked out the door. That's not really variable here.

Why didn’t he say that? And why should fans and the media appreciate that players are showing up in good spirits to go out and play like crap?

If that is what he meant, he is saying it’s not a given that people who work for him show up ready to work and he is delighted that they do.

It’s the same thing.

Rather than continuing to repeat yourself maybe you can try to explain what you think the difference is.
If you can't comprehend the difference I wouldn't be able to explain it to you!

What Covington is saying is they show up ready to work. THE WAY THE SHOW UP. If you can't understand that there's no sense going any further with it.

When you jump into someone else’s conversation to call people racist, you are the woke mob.

Good to see someone on this thread can comprehend what he was saying! You understand it!

Why didn’t he say that? You are reading that in.
And even if that’s what he meant are we supposed to say sucking doesn’t matter but showing up eager for work then continuing to suck is awesome?

Are you really dying on the hill of what Covington said about turning the defense from #1 to #30 was great and you shouldn’t feel his attitude is wrong? Because he thinks the people that work for him like to work for him?

I don't know why Covington is talking about that stuff, but regardless...it's clear that's what he is talking about.

Here's the problem, who takes Covington's place if he's fired?

The scheme would have to change because Mayo is not capable of guiding someone which leads to the next question.

What defensive coach would want to coach under Mayo knowing he's probably going to get fired in 2025?
