Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Vrabel would hire his own staff anyway so the only difference is giving him a say in hiring a GM. I think he would probably want that anyway, considering how things ended in Tennessee with them firing one GM and then ignoring his input on a new one, forcing Ran Carthon on him and then predictably having Carthon want to get his “own guy” a year later.

Vrabel will demand his personnel people I think.

There's no current general manager, so it's an easy workaround.

I dunno about this part. Maybe nobody they want will want the job. There's always someone who will coach.
Bolded part is what I meant.

This is bad but not as bad as the coaching on the field.

If the coaching was good it would be easy to sweep this under the rug and put it on the growing pains folder but it is just too much **** and this is a billion dollar business, this is not a place to learn on the fly the job.

There’s no current GM but Wolf is in a role that acts as the GM. If you hire a true GM then I’m not sure what Wolf does. Is he just supporting the GM in some assistant type role? Seems like unnecessary overlap. Probably not different from Wolf and Groh right now though. Groh would be gone and Wolf would be the new Groh.

Yes that's what I envision. It's really the way things were for Wolf a year ago.

And Vrabel wants the same type of player that Bill wanted, only a little more modern version.

I bet the don't even get bogged down in titles.

Wolf should fit well with whomever Vrabel would bring in.

Isn't the plan (???) for Wolf to move back or up in the organization and undertake a GM search?

Weei

Is speculating Krafts will keep Mayo and fire Van Pelt as the scapegoat.
Jonathan to do the dirty work?

Anybody else notice that you're seeing more and more reports of Jonathan in charge and not happy?

Thunder is distancing himself from Mayo and the abysmal results. You can bet your axx that Thunder would be front running if the Pat's were relevant and vying for a post season berth. Basking in the glory of his latest hire.

I suppose when you're begging to get in the NFL HOF it's best to keep clean and rub elbows with the beautiful people.

Do we think Mayo stays and they just go after say McDaniels as Oc!
I don’t know how I feel about that if that’s the case.

I was hoping there would be more smoke coming out of Sunday of him being on a hot seat but today I heard Reiss and Curran both suggest he’s going to be fine. That’s concerning. My question is do the Krafts care at all about this type of stuff?

I don’t believe it.
What free Agent would come here to be coached by Jerod?

It's coming down to whether Kraft is more loyal to Mayo or to fans of the New England Patriots.

Fans weren't cool to him in Israel.
My guess is he's going nowhere anytime soon.

Firing AVP presents a real problem. Fire him. Bring in a new OC. Mayo is fired. New HC wants to bring in his own OC.

So at least three OC's for Maye.
Would also look ridiculous for them to fire AVP while everyone else keeps their job. I’m not an AVP fan but he’s done the best job out of Mayo, Wolf, Covington, etc.

The bar is low, I know, but that’s still a fact.

AVP is the only coach on the staff that’s done good work not totally sucked this year & the HC wants to throw him under the bus to save his own skin.

This is classic behavior from a no talent, empty stuffed suit, hack, who rose the corporate ladder by kissing ass & deflecting blame for all of his failures on his higher performing co-workers. It’s despicable behavior on Mayo’s part. It’s frightening that the Krafts chose a weasel to lead to franchise.

Mayo adds no value & spends all of his energy trying to cover his ass and deflect blame on others. He’s a cancer on this franchise.
FIFY. Let’s be honest, AVP has been pretty bad, just not as totally bad as others. His play calling is abysmal. As OC he is ultimately responsible for OL and WR quality of play. About the only part of his job that could get a satisfactory performance review would be developing, or at least not screwing up, Drake Maye. Everything else has been so bad I’m wondering how much Maye is a self made QB.

If Mayo is fired before the season ends.
Make AVP interm head coach.
I would love if someone like Vrabel would be open to keeping AVP and Macadoo for Maye. As well as McCartney.

Vrabel may entertain that.
Only if he is required to delegate playcalling to his acting OC.

Otherwise, gawd no. Well maybe if he also has to relinquish overseeing OL and WR preparation. Neither of those has been acceptable under his leadership as OC.
