Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

No offense Ross but this is literally just being a fairweather fan lol

I have been driving Jeep Grand Cherokees for over a decade now. I get one every 3-4 years or so, and I am currently on my 4th one. I have been pretty loyal to the brand for a while now, but this current 2024 JGC needed a new transmission at 8k miles. As if that wasn't bad enough, it took Jeep/the dealership a month to get a new transmission ordered and installed, only for them to have broken some sensor in the process that I needed to come back to get fixed a day after I initially got the car back. I liked Jeep, and it had served me well for many years, but now it is a subpar product, and I will not be buying a 5th Grand Cherokee. You don't need to stay loyal to something if all you are rewarded with are diminishing returns.

Fairweather fandom is just another trick that these billion-dollar companies have pulled on their consumers. It boils down to "even if the product is bad, you should still support it because of the times it wasn't bad," which is kind of asinine if you actually think of each team as a product like you would anything else.

I got ya and for what it's worth we're all probably way overanalyzing what you meant as an off-hand comment. We've all been there. I said this last week in the GDT after the first holding penalty in the first drive that I wasn't gonna bother watching the rest of the game. But there I am. Like a freaking dunce watching this hotdog water team ruin my Sunday again
“Hotdog water team” is probably the best description I can think of lol

If the Krafts fire Mayo, as they obviously should, he'd fit right in at Stellantis, who managed to destroy at least two formerly top-rank automotive franchises.

Great analogy!

Stellantis is such a dogshit company that is basically hyper capitalism in a nutshell. It basically boils down to "outsource for cheap labor, use crappier material, and raise the price". Profits for shareholders and bonuses for executives takes precedence over a quality and American manufacturing.

If we end up firing Mayo and not hitting our HC target that would suck.
That is negotiated ahead of time, Rooney Rule and all the NFL regs be damned. If (big if) they know who the next guy is going to be, then back channel talks should begin the moment they know they are moving on, before it's announced that they fired the HC.

Big companies don't fire CEOs without having the next CEO lined up.

As @Steve102 mentioned, they aren't going to fire Mayo and then try to get their targeted HC. We'll know if he's fired quickly after the season ends, they have a someone lined up.

If Mayo isn't fired, that probably means they put the feelers out there, but nobody wants the job.

Maybe it’s wrong to say it, but I feel like if the guy you just fired would have checked the box for the Rooney Rule then it should count towards checking that box for replacing him. So if you are firing a minority coach in Mayo then you shouldn’t then need to interview two more minority coaches to replace him.

Conversely, because of the Rooney Rule, I am guessing Mayo will get a fair number of interviews after he is fired with teams needing a new HC in order to check their own Rooney Rule boxes.

Am I? lol Couldn’t I simply be here while they go on to monitor? Catch the stats later? Didn’t say I was going anywhere.

I hope you're not serious. Seriously.

As a car guy, I agree.
I’ve been a Toyota guy for a good long while but their newer models seem to have been cutting corners and ditching the reliability they were previously known for. Despite this, you’re still paying a premium for them as if that reliability is still intact.

Ended up selling my RAV4 and Tacoma in favor of a Ford Escape and a mid 2000s F-150. Ford isn’t better but they’re not really worse than what Toyota is now and at least I’m not paying a premium for the name.

how much are Panthers tickets as opposed to Pats tickets?
lol similar situation.

I dunno about this part. Maybe nobody they want will want the job. There's always someone who will coach.

I still think Kraft won’t fire Mayo because he wants to be the Rooneys or the Maras, old school owners who are known for being patient.

I bought a string of Tacomas over the years. Each time I bought a new one it was less well-built, less "trucklike" than the one before. Now it's an SUV chassis with a bed out back, and most of them have the new V-6, which is a piece of unreliable junk. The old 22R. four-bangers ran forever.

I'd go to Vrabel and say, "Tell us what you want, hire the coaches you want, you get a say in the new GM: it's yours." He's not gonna take it on any other basis, nor should he, and he's solid enough that that would be a very reasonable gamble, a hell of a lot better gamble than another year for the people-pleasing blowhard running the show [sic] at present.

Old ones are solid gold. New stuff is just a name. Sad stuff.

Vrabel would hire his own staff anyway so the only difference is giving him a say in hiring a GM. I think he would probably want that anyway, considering how things ended in Tennessee with them firing one GM and then ignoring his input on a new one, forcing Ran Carthon on him and then predictably having Carthon want to get his “own guy” a year later.

You're monitor of the biggest Patriots fan board around, and you don't watch the games.

It's one thing for the team to be bad like this, but another to be a Cleveland level joke.

It's such a bad look for all concerned.
