Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Mayo's typical passive-aggressive "It's not my fault!"
The only grownup in the building seems to be Maye. He takes accountability for everything whether it is actually his fault or not. Meanwhile we have Boutte blaming the INT on the ball placement and Mayo blaming play calling on AVP. I know it isn't likely but they need to clean house. Write Ben Johnson a blank check and let him hand pick his staff.

What the team should really do is fire everyone, Give Ben Johnson a 5 year guarantee where we absolutely can't fire him to come here. Give a GM with common sense the exact same deal. Put everyone on offense who isn't Maye, Henry and Gibson on a list to be replaced via the draft and free agency, on defense look for a few LB's who can cover the middle. And then just see what the hell happens.

I don't think they will do that because I don't think Kraft has the apatite for that sort of longterm plan. Jonathan might. So they'll look for a scapegoat like AVP thinking another OC will magically make the line and receivers not suck giant hairy donkey ****.

We got lucky with AVP. No offensive coordinator might want to come work under Mayo. I would say fire Covington now and see if maye can handle the responsibilities of DC or getting someone online for interviews. If mayo cannot do that, we might need to be like jets and fire mayo too.

I feel wolf might be good in next season but we cannot fire the coach while retaining GM.

Why? Did she dump you in high school or something?

I don't see why a team lawyer gets so much hate around here. I bet fans of other teams don't know the name of the team lawyer who handles contracts and the like let along ***** about her being employed by the team.
You are either being intentionally misleading or are just phenomenally ignorant.

Newsflash: She is not just the "team lawyer". One of her roles is "Senior Advisor to the Head Coach." There are plenty of reports suggesting she is doing more than just drafting contracts, dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

When the head coaching sucks, it is perfectly valid to question what exactly the "Senior Advisor to the Head Coach" is advising and yes, maybe even remove her from that role.

Absolutely not.

No more rookie Head Coaches please.

Mayo is very frustrating to watch and listen to at this point. I think he’ll be a good HC someday but it’s apparent that he has been and continues to be in way over his head. A few seasons as a DC or assistant HC with an experienced HC would have been a much better role for him.

Kraft is probably locked in for a second year but unless they hit HRs in FA and the draft, I don’t really know if much will change next year.

Reportedly Maye agreed with Boutte about that.

I’ve tuned Mayo out as he’s too frustrating and unprofessional to listen to. He needs to go but they’ll find some scapegoats elsewhere instead. You never once heard BB throw his coordinators under the bus.

There is no panacea for this team. With the rising cap, no stud players will reach free agency. We’ll need to overpay for average starters, if they want to come here at all. That creates its own problems. At the very least we need to put together a coaching staff that can be a net positive rather than negative.

So up until yesterday I've been willing to give him another year to sort this all out.

But this whole coaching staff is woefully inept and now I believe in order to save Maye's career, we need change NOW.

Imagine what Drake and a1st round WR like Hunter/T-Mac could do with Ben Johnson as our head coach...

Mayo has shown NO sign of "growing into the job" over the current season. This "I'll be better next year "thing is horseshit, and the "only losing teams fire incompetent coaches" thing is nonsense, a pathetic excuse for doing nothing but a few token PR tweaks.

It is time to face the facts of the matter. An aging owner ran a grossly incompetent, irresponsibly personalized hiring process which has left the team with incompetent "leadership" - coaching and front office - from top to bottom. The only solution is a clean sweep. It is time to fire the whole dismal lot and for Johnathan to try his hand at running the team. As matters stand, we are on the road to long-term, Jetlike irrelevance.

As it stands today the market for experienced HC is thin as well. Maybe Doug Peterson hits the market, he did well on the Eagles but has been a disappointment in Jaguars, although I will throw the blame on Trevor Lawrence.

After this Mayo fiasco I'm reluctant in rookie HCs, I know it is a thing in the NFL in recent years with a lot of teams going after the kids instead of the old fellas, but still. Ben Johnson at least has experience as a OC but I'm not sure he even wants to go to a full time HC gig.

I'm rooting for one of McDermott or Shanahan gets the axe after another disappointing season to shake some trees in the coaching market but I think it's high unlikely.

None of that will happen tbh. McDermott is taking a team to the playoffs again, Shanahan is going to get a huge ass pass for all the injuries the Niners had this verr.

Also frankly, Pederson might have experience, but he also got fired from a team he won a Super Bowl with. Even Eagles fans nowadays will say they have no clue how they won with him that one year as HC. Lawrence hasn't live up to hype, but he's also not dreadful. He's average maybe a tick below. I see no reason to think Pederson is going to succeed here. He had a loaded to the gills Eagles team and that was the only time in his career he looked decent, and then he even flatlined with that team despite them still being pretty talented.

The reality of the situation is you are either getting

1. A former HC who got fired somewhere. Which means they failed at the job anyways even if they had it.
2. A coordinator who is looking for his break.

The latter is more attractive because they haven't already blown it once.

I would give Kliff Kingsbury a chance. Assume that he learned something from failing with the Cardinals and now had success with the Commanders. I'd be interested in what he could do with Maye on offense and assume he would see the value in hiring an actual defensive coordinator.
