If patriots lose out, Travis Hunter could be theirs

A lot of “experts” think Campbell turns into an elite Guard in the NFL, taking a guard at #3 is a reach in itself, especially when you have so many other needs.

I won’t be upset if they do draft him, same with Hunter or McMillian. We’ll all cross our fingers that it who ever they draft pans out, but they need to hit a couple times to make any headway

Watched more Hunter. He reminds me of Chad Johnson (not the Patriots version) at WR. Crafty, twitched up, good hands, deceptive catch radius. They're both slender but tough, with a knack for easy separation. I'm all for drafting him.

Hunter's vision and acceleration after the catch is unusual. IMO he is the best prospect in entire draft. Assuming we have 3rd pick, Hunter is available and not picking him would be a sin.

I think Tee Higgins gets resigned by the Bengals, accroding to overthecap.com they will have 62.7M in space next year, so its cool that we will have over 130M but most other teams are going to be able to sign their guys. Its very possible that players think they can get a blank check from the Pats, but not sure how realistic that is.

I have been watching some all 22 of Hunter as a CB and WR and I feel like he is an all pro at either position, he is very smooth and is acceleration is sooo good.

I must admit I was all in on McMillan. But am thinking more now that Hunter may be the best pick if available.

I was very much the same way. Hunter is a very good WR and CB. What changed it for me is that Drake is really good in the quick passing game and Hunter can get easy early separation. He is also a shutdown corner and he wants to play on both sides in the NFL, so a full time WR and passing down corner or full time shut down corner opposite Gonzo and amazing part time WR.

My comps for him at WR is a Jamarr Chase type and at CB is similar to young Champ Bailey. These are not exact but the players he reminds me of stylistically.

After seeing Travis Hunter’s Heisman Trophy acceptance speech, I’m all in on Hunter, what a great kid. Besides being the best offensive AND defensive player in college football, he’s a great kid, and really smart (4.0 GPA). I like what Shedeur said, Hunter can tell how the DBs are gonna cover, so it’s great intel (obviously because of his play at DB).

Man, I drool at the thought of him playing opposite Gonzalez on defense, and then maybe 15-20 plays on offense. Or even visa versa, full time WR, and then come in on key defensive plays. Just a great weapon to have. Speed, ball skills, YAC, and smarts.

He's the closest dual threat player we've seen since Charles Woodson and Deion Sanders before him.

Wasn't planning to deep dive on prospects until I could see where Pats are picking but saw some all-22 footage from Colorado and Cincy.
Completely sold on Hunter as a WR. Would have 100 catches and over 1,000 yards year 1 with Drake Maye.

-Good release, good route running, good hands, elite ability to find holes in the defense, Separation is good.
I think his YAC will be excellent without a crap QB, yeah Sanders is a crap QB.
What's his weakness? A little light in weight, not sure he'll be a great blocker, though his legs are not big they are muscular, he's not a twig but if he was 200 pounds he'd be a near-perfect wr prospect.
He'll probably run 4.40 or just under, Chase was 4.38 at 6 feet and 200 vs 6 feet 1 and 185 for Hunter. I don't think he's Chase level but he's a #1 receiver and with a QB like Maye will put up Chase like numbers eventually.

Hunter had 9 receptions for 153 yards with 2 TD's, could have had 15 for 275 with 3 TD's easily except Sanders sees the field terribly. Sanders is even worse seeing the field when he starts to scramble. Drake Maye scramble and Travis Hunter finding spots down field, would be magical.

Tet McMillen- He has some issues. Release isn't good, separation isn't good, route running is not good. Elite hands, uses body size very well, deceptive top end speed, faster in games than 40 would suggest once he gets up to speed. Would be great red zone receiver, I question his ability to get open outside the red zone and whether good NFL CB's would be boxed out with his body the way college CB's can be.

Not saying T-Mac can't be a good receiver but he has work to do on the nuances of being a receiver and relies on his size and athleticism right now. Hunter does it all. Start him at WR and have him play CB on 3rd downs.

Just lose out the rest of the way please, hey Drake, if you want the elite receiver, Hunter is the man, don't screw it up! This might be the 1 chance to get the Chase type #1 receiver. Imagine if the Bengals one 1 more game and missed out on Chase that year?

Sanders is a 2nd round QB level prospect. Upside is limited, might be a middle of the road NFL QB if he does not bust. Raiders or Giants have no choice but to take him and hope he develops but odds are low he ever comes close to carrying a team as a franchise QB.

Yup, by the time the Colts built a stellar O-line, Luck called it a day from too many hits.
That’s why you build from the inside out.

Historically, the Jets and this year’s Patriots are doing it the opposite. Not good.

Preseason common consensus: Sam Darnold, he sucks so bad.

Today, leading the Vikes to 11-2, that looks totally wrong.

Heisman winner track record in the pros is scary but I’ll take him or McMillan. Either one of those guys has to be the pick if we still have a top 3 pick. McMillan does have the height advantage and is still young and can add pounds to get to Megatron size. Not saying he’s the next CJ but he has the frame

I didn't realize we had Dante Scarneccia on the board.
Talking about Dante Scarneccia, I sure miss him. He had a knack of turning water into wine. That skill sure would have come in handy for Pats 2025 draft.

Higgins in free agency, Travis/Tet first pats pick in the draft, sprinkle that with a Josh Simmons of Josh Connerly in second round and bring back 76 year old Dante to do the rest !!

there's a kid in the middle of the first at texas we should look at if we trade back...isaiah bond

Big fan of Bond. Seems more like a mid-to-late-2nd kind of player though. I'm also intrigued by Savion Williams as an all-purpose offensive weapon (Corderrele Patterson like), and maybe Kyren Lacy in the mid rounds.

None of them have Hunter's physical skills. He's a more physical Garrett Wilson, perhaps, if I'm still looking for player comparisons.
