Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Breer: How Krafts view Jerod Mayo, Pats coaches amid 2024 struggles

"Just from having talked to (the Krafts) and having talked to people around them, I just get the feeling that they know where they are and this is going to take a couple of offseasons to get through," Breer said on Patriots Pregame Live ahead of Patriots-Colts, as seen in the video player above. "There wasn't anybody blind to the fact that the roster was not in a good spot coming out of 2023, and it's not like they had a bunch of young talent that they could start to build off of.
Breer suggested that changes on the coaching staff around Mayo are very possible, but that Mayo is very likely to return next season.

This was always the reality.

Some of us have been ringing the bell on how bad this roster has been getting for years. Even before Brady left there were problems. Last year was the nadir. There's a lot of fans who want quick fixes and can't handle that. But the truth is, anyone who had even a semi honest evaluation of the team going into this season knew what we were in for.

If you thought this was going to be a quick one or two year fix, you were just being unrealistic and setting yourself up.

Saw this on Reddit.

Big Difference Fat Matt was a proven Defensive Coordinator and a rocket science major. Mayo was never a Coordinator he has no experience: except for being a sucky cannon fodder position Coach.
? Exactly my point, and Ross12 artfully fleshed it out

Sorry facts don't care about your feelings.
Is Mayo being unqualified for the position of HC fact or opinion?

He certainly does not have the resume of other HC hires.

This quote from your article disturbs me:

"There are a lot of aspects of the organization that I think will be under evaluation over the next six weeks," Breer said. "That said, I do think (the Krafts) have respect for the spot that Jerod Mayo has been in and was in coming into this (season). And all the chatter and the pressure to win and everything else -- I actually think they believe he's handled that pretty well given the circumstances, given his lack of experience being thrust into this role."

For ****s sake - WHO PUT HIM IN THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES, GUYS?? Did you maybe realize that you didn't HAVE TO promote a guy who was completely unprepared for the job? They're treating him like a guy who didn't want the job but was forced to take it by circumstances that were out of anyone's control.

He's not an interim HC guys, he's the ACTUAL HC that YOU CHOSE. You could have had a real coaching search and you declined to do so because you felt he was so amazing that there was no point. Now just the fact that he hasn't offed himself from the pressure of the job is incredible? WTF are we doing here?

Covington is a dead man walking...

I’m convinced Jerod has photos of Thunder with a Korean prostitute.
Maybe that’s where Thunder Comes from.

It's so true it's sad. He literally cannot stop putting his foot in his mouth on a weekly basis. He can't coach or STFU, the team is so screwed with this guy.
I knew there would be some coaching errors and mismanagement, seeing how he is a first-year head coach without much experience, but I didn't expect his lack of media training to be this severe. His saying something ridiculous is now a weekly occurrence.

And I'll say again, the defense wasn't good. They were paper tigers.

2024 Patriots Defense: 23.6 ppg
2023 Patriots defense. 21.5 ppg.

You lost the supposed GOAT, had more key injuries than last year and you only dropped 2 points per game on the season.

Are we going to pretend the Pats didn't play teams like the Cowboys and lose 38-3 last year or got blacked 34-0 by the Saints?

Dude you just want a quick fix and are going down whatever you think the path of least resistance is. You've been doing it for years.

The team is bad. That is the majority of the problem. He might never be the guy, but plenty of people thought Bill was a headcase who couldn't ever make it as a HC based on his time in Cleveland where he lost 4 out of 5 seasons. Talking in absolutes because a first year coach is working with one of the worst rosters in the league is silly.

And I'll go a step further, even if he isn't the guy.... NO good coaches will take a look at us this year. You think Ben Johnson is going to look at this roster, see us not giving the new coach more than a year to work with it and then say "oh that looks like a well functioning franchise". No we are just going to look like a toxic mess. We will get another coach who is a "prove it" guy that has no track record and we'll be right back where we are.
You're not taking into account that last year's offense was nothing but 3 and outs and turnovers gifting the other team points. Last year even special teams was pumping opponent's scoring. This year's defense is giving up more points in fewer drives. It's way worse than just looking at points total without nuance.

Ben Johnson will see Drake Maye, a top 5 pick, 140M cap, and a staff he can clean up with his own people. It's a beautiful setup for a fresh beginning---with a properly hired coach who's actually worked and succeeded his way up to the opportunity.

Sounds like Kraft is putting us thru more stale Mayo.
The dream is dead, no Johnson, No Moore, No Joe Brady.

Ive always viewed 2020 as the start of re building the team. the first 3 years were a wast

Please tell me Jerod never said that about the Optum meetings?
That makes me feel even worse about him if true.
I pray you can’t find that quote.
Every quote I posted is directly from Mayo and Kraft interviews. All their own words exactly. I think some people feel I'm making stuff up. I'm not. These are real quotes. They shape my reasoning for not having any hope at all whatsoever that this man can learn to be a top 10 HC in this league.

Ben Johnson is not walking though that door.

Lol, with your "unbiased" interpretations.
