Kraft allegedly seeking outside QB guru.

Bill said that the Krafts don't know the first thing about football? That's pretty harsh.
More or less. He said they think they know football. Why is that harsh? I played football and have been watching it for 50 years, and I wouldn't even presume to know what I was doing with pro football players. Just because they're billionaires doesn't mean they know football.

Doing it is a great idea. Doing it is exactly what the team needs to do to protect their long term investment in Maye.

Telling everybody that you are doing it? And stressing Little Enos Kraft is spearheading the search? Not so much. It undermines Mayo to a significant degree. The intentions most likely fall along the lines of "we want to help him" but it basically says "we think hes going to screw this up... we don't trust him to do this job correctly... we need help" to the rest of the world.

I think this is more of a reaction to Belichick putting Patricia in charge of Jones than anything else. And in this instance there isn’t anything Mayo and his staff could do that would be worse than that. I don’t think Jones was going to pan out either way, but that was one of the worst decisions Belichick ever made.

Yep.

BB put himself on the hot seat with that genius move and rightfully so.

End of the day for Ivan it's always Belichick's fault.

Kraft has apparently been seeking advice on how best to handle a young qb outside of the organization. How does everyone feel about this? All week I’ve heard from multiple sources about how good of a job AVP is doing developing Maye. What reason would Kraft have to meddle and to let it leak no less? Is Kraft planning on pulling the plug on the AVP, McCartney, McAdoo experiment at the end of the season? Is Kraft not satisfied with Drakes development? Is Kraft hearing from sources within the organization that Maye isn’t receiving good coaching? I want to say his heart is in the right place and he’s just wanting to do what’s best by the kid but it all feels dirty to me.
Whatever actually happened (we don't know) is being spun as a non-troversy by the media. Oooohhh Ahhhh, the Krafts are going behind Mayo and AVP. True or drama-fiction? Likely drama-fiction. What statement is reported by the Krafts, AVP, or Mayo....?... Answer = None. what did the Krafts specifically do? Answer: the media doesn't know. So it's open "conjecture" and of course the media finds a good narrative to serve up a drama. Patriots win 2 out 3 and they need something to serve up and get some page hits and eyeballs for ratings. That is todays sports page.

Yeah, I think this is largely nothing. The Krafts are trying to protect their investment by making sure Maye has the best people around him to continue to improve. It'd be nice to have a look inside and see how all the various pieces work together (AVP, McAdoo, this new guru, etc.) but I'm not that concerned as long as Maye continues to show improvement.

Agreed. Why does everything RK is involved in get leaked? RK must think he found a good guy so he wants everyone to know he is looking since he believes the outcome will be a success.
He's lost about 20 mph off his mental fastball.

Steve, Brady had outside QB mentors (Rodriquez and Tom House) and a body guy for almost as long as he was here. I don’t like the idea of Kraft meddling in this decision, but I don’t have a problem with Maye having outside help. Ideally it would have been Brady, but that option is gone now that he is a part owner of the Raiders. IMO Maye could simply look at what Brady focused on ( pliability, obsessive film study, always improving his weak links) and build his routines around that, but the technical stuff that Brady used House for after Rodriquez passed away needs someone with really refined, specific knowledge. But Kraft should not be the one making that call.
My issue with it is really that it's happening mid season. Now I am not naive enough to think that it doesn't go on mid-season all over, but it was leaked by someone. Why? This should have been addressed back in April or May, or they should have waited until the off-season. Now it smacks of them undermining and having a vote of no confidence in the staff, either as a whole or a part.

I don't think Patricia was good for Mac, but move into year three, what happened? With a real bonifide OC in billy o, Further regression. Even less offensive production, less scoring. At some point it has to become obvious that the player bears some responsibility for the outcome. It wasn't coaching. It was the players inability to accept coaching and apply said lessons.

Mac Jones was going to do what Mac Jones wanted to do.

Mayo though doesn't know what he is doing. The search for a guru just reinforced that thought.

I think BoB did a poor job last season and there's a good reason why he's not here anymore.

That too.

The coaching was just dysfunctional though and that can't be good for any player. Klemm publicly fighting with a staffer and then going AWOL. BoB not being able to bring his own staff along. BB stopped talking to Jones completely and checked out probably knowing this was the end of the line in NE.

I’d be all for bringing in ADDITIONAL coaching sure. But replacing the people he’s gotten into a groove with would only be detrimental. See McD and Corky (not that it would’ve changed a hell of a lot).
I'm not. He already has enough coaches in his ear. If they aren't good enough, find better coaches. I'd rather have Daboll.

Hope this doesn't ruffle too many feathers....and I'm sure someone will feel like the heat is on, which it should be. Rather than Kraft letting go of people, he's going to just be bringing in more. Never hurts really. Just please....don't fck up Drake...
Never hurts? You sure about that? Aphorisms (really, wisdom passed down through the generations) can teach us a lot, and we're about to have too many cooks in the kitchen, too many hands spoiling the broth, and too many captains sinking the ship.

Why are you more concerned with hating Bill then discussing why Kraft would undermine his OC mid season by leaking that he's looking for someone to help him with his job.

If this is something Kraft felt is needed quietly go about it and ask your GM, HC, and OC to bring in someone they are comfortable working with. By searching for someone mid season without the aid of your staff seems counterintuitive and smells fishy on the heels of half the media calling for a reset of the whole staff following the Tenn game.

But go ahead throw Bill under the bus for this too it's the only cord you know how to pluck on the banjo.

So you have zero concern with Kraft holding something Bill did against the new staff he hired less than a year ago. Got it. You don't have an agenda at all.

I don’t see it that way at all. It’s all about doing what’s best for Maye.
