Kraft allegedly seeking outside QB guru.

This is that moment where Kraft is going to have to go aggressively after Ben Johnson for HC after the Lions go deep in the playoffs. Maye should be an attractive piece to work with. Not to mention they have decent backs and TE's. Just need to really focus on the OL and WR's. They have lots of cash again and should have pretty good draft positions in each round.

Nobody wants to turn down a promotion at HC, but Mayo should've taken a DC job in NE or elsewhere for a few years to prove himself before cutting in line.

We could also stand to improve at talented depth at RB and LB. Our DL could get younger and Gonzo could use a solid #2. Maye is showing signs of being a stud. But overall I agree!

Well from this report it sounds like ownership feels the Pats did Mac Jones wrong and that's why they want to do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't happen again. So they don't entirely agree with the logic that "Mac Jones just sucked and always did" that you see a lot around here.

As for those names - sure. I wouldn't say they developed Hoyer, he was a UDFA signing that was never going to start here as long as Brady was around. Ditto for Jacoby. Ditto for other guys like Mallett. Not sure I'd say they "developed" Zappe. They pulled the plug on Stid when they signed Cam. Maybe BB will open up about that move and why they decided Stid wasn't going to be the guy so quickly.
You really do reach new lows with every post.

Kraft is hiring a QB guru not because he's concerned about this staff but because you hate Bill Belichick.

I was just focusing on offense, but I agree the defense obviously needs upgrades. Edge is #1 on my list, CB is #2, FS is #3, off ball LB is #4th and DL to help Barmore.

I am all for a QB guru. Someone that strictly works with mechanics, arm strength etc
I am all for hiring some top shelf Coaches and GM
(although I think AVP has done a decent job developing Maye, just don’t think he is a great OC)
But why does Young Blunder have to leak everything. It amounts to nothing more than a distraction
It is like Kraft is telling the base. None of this failure is my fault I’m doing everything possible to right the ship
Just do it behind closed doors. And stop being a glorified *****

I agree that Mayo should have done the responsible thing from a learning perspective and been a DC for a couple of years. That being said, I do not think that Mayo is let go after this season.

Kraft has apparently been seeking advice on how best to handle a young qb outside of the organization. How does everyone feel about this? All week I’ve heard from multiple sources about how good of a job AVP is doing developing Maye. What reason would Kraft have to meddle and to let it leak no less? Is Kraft planning on pulling the plug on the AVP, McCartney, McAdoo experiment at the end of the season? Is Kraft not satisfied with Drakes development? Is Kraft hearing from sources within the organization that Maye isn’t receiving good coaching? I want to say his heart is in the right place and he’s just wanting to do what’s best by the kid but it all feels dirty to me.
I think this is a good idea. The only advice I have for Kraft is if you are looking for advice and experience you should go to the best.

So all Kraft needs to do is figure out who the best quarterback of all time is, and then consult the staff that developed him.

If he can do that he should be well on his way to surrounding Drake Maye with the right people.

This is the worst NFL product I've seen since 2008. That season was awful.

Because of this, it wouldn't shock me if the Pats steal a few more wins starting with this Sunday against the Rams. That is going to prop Mayo up for a 2nd season.

Im sure Josh Mcdaniels would run to do this.
It doesn’t hurt to bring him on with AVP, would be a good complimentary to AVP.
If all parties were on the same page to work together, I would be happy to see JMD as OC, AVP QB coach with Mayo delegating the offense as HC.

I was thinking about Kraft calling folks about the young QB and wonder if it is to secure the services of a private QB coach.

I long for the days of keeping everything close to the vest and in-house. The media might have hated it but as a fan I loved it. No one knew exactly what the teams was thinking or what they were going to do. Kraft is becoming a loud mouth and it's very annoying. He loves the sound of his own voice and is coming across as a meddling old man. I am really starting to despise him more and more . He doesn't realize that this could be very detrimental to the team and a huge distraction !

So you think Maye is coming along as well as he has in spite of the coaching he has received?
BOTTOM LINE
The OC, QB and WR coaches will be evaluated, as they should be. Maybe we can do better, maybe not.
===================================
The open question is whether (no conclusion) the team would be better with someone who would do better at developing Maye. Kraft mad his choices last off-season. Now that everyone knows who the QB is, and that he is competent, just maybe we might be able to do better with the Offense in 2025 with different leadership, or even with a QB Whisperer whose only job would be the development of Maye.

I suspect that many teams are looking around. Coaches and coordinators are being fired already. Many more will follow. Now is indeed the time to assess what will be available.

He bad mouthed BB on the way out
Now he is portraying a bad look on Mayo and AVP
Don’t be surprised if the rising star coaches that would love to coach Maye.
But want nothing to do with working under Kraft
Those coaches want stability and respect
