Kraft allegedly seeking outside QB guru.

I agree it is a crap shoot and as owners it is their prerogative, but I would be pissed if I were the coaches.
Agreed. Why does everything RK is involved in get leaked? RK must think he found a good guy so he wants everyone to know he is looking since he believes the outcome will be a success.

Pats have developed QBs quite well. Brady, Cassell, JG, Hoyer, and Brissett all started in the NFL. Even Stidham. Pretty good for a list of mostly later draft picks over 20 years.
Well from this report it sounds like ownership feels the Pats did Mac Jones wrong and that's why they want to do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't happen again. So they don't entirely agree with the logic that "Mac Jones just sucked and always did" that you see a lot around here.

As for those names - sure. I wouldn't say they developed Hoyer, he was a UDFA signing that was never going to start here as long as Brady was around. Ditto for Jacoby. Ditto for other guys like Mallett. Not sure I'd say they "developed" Zappe. They pulled the plug on Stid when they signed Cam. Maybe BB will open up about that move and why they decided Stid wasn't going to be the guy so quickly.

We think we have problems imagine the Owner of the Bears. It's no mystery Maye have talent: he has some warts too but the sky's the limit. Maybe the Krafts are tired of being the doormats of the Division: knowing how they dominated it for 20 years. It's no mystery in Today's NFL a Very Good QB and Defense can get a team in the significant category.

He can move over to his rightful position as TE's Coach...Let's get a Real QB's Coach in here. Some things are important.

Another situation where Kraft is getting involved in football decisions which contradicts Mayo's repeated statements to the contrary.
Et tu, Young Thundercat ?

There can only be 1 General.

Let Mayo and company sink or swim. Maye has started 5 games and shows signs of belonging in the NFL. I am against Thunder forming his own coaching staff beholden to him.

Kraft needs to stay out of things unless he's specifically asked for a contact. It seems like he's forgotten everything that worked under BB and didn't work under Petey.

Little Jerry Jones.

Soon Kraft will land his helicopter on the practice field gangsta style. Probably rocking new Jordan's and mugsy jeans like a dog yo.

We all lived through the Mac Jones train wreck...I think the Krafts are doing their due diligence.
Wasn’t their due diligence done when they put together the coaching staff? I thought that was why we brought guys like McAdoo on. What’s changed? Why go asking around now?

The bottom line is that the team has no one leader who drives the machine with a single vision. We have the owner who spends equal time generating attention to their contributions to the team and denying any involvement in football decisions. For all we know Kraft is looking for justification to take out Mayo, AVP and/or Wolf. I am probably just disgruntled that he didn't call me when I have the answer to his questions. If asked I would tell him that the kid is a self starter so he should spend his time worrying about getting some players in here to help him win.

Yes but sometimes you can do something: then after the fact think you made a mistake. Remember that BB saying?? "Better a year early than a year too late."

Kraft has apparently been seeking advice on how best to handle a young qb outside of the organization. How does everyone feel about this? All week I’ve heard from multiple sources about how good of a job AVP is doing developing Maye. What reason would Kraft have to meddle and to let it leak no less? Is Kraft planning on pulling the plug on the AVP, McCartney, McAdoo experiment at the end of the season? Is Kraft not satisfied with Drakes development? Is Kraft hearing from sources within the organization that Maye isn’t receiving good coaching? I want to say his heart is in the right place and he’s just wanting to do what’s best by the kid but it all feels dirty to me.
Seems like Maye is doing perfectly well. Kraft needs to back off.

Looking for someone to give a hand is what he does best.

This is that moment where Kraft is going to have to go aggressively after Ben Johnson for HC after the Lions go deep in the playoffs. Maye should be an attractive piece to work with. Not to mention they have decent backs and TE's. Just need to really focus on the OL and WR's. They have lots of cash again and should have pretty good draft positions in each round.

Nobody wants to turn down a promotion at HC, but Mayo should've taken a DC job in NE or elsewhere for a few years to prove himself before cutting in line.

I’d be all for bringing in ADDITIONAL coaching sure. But replacing the people he’s gotten into a groove with would only be detrimental. See McD and Corky (not that it would’ve changed a hell of a lot).

The report didn't say that. The report said he's looking for a QB guru. "Did wrong" is quite the pull. It could simply be "I want to make sure we have the best set up we can for Maye."

And if ownership doesn't think Mac sucks ass, then ownership sucks ass at profiling a player and their development. Both things can be true - the Patriots did no favors and that Mac sucks. Maye already looks like someone who could be "the future" and they want to protect that.

The main issue here is that, as many have pointed out, is the weird optics that can fissure a staff internally through undermining, etc.
