6 teams seem comfortably headed to the playoffs, seeding pending: Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, Texans, Steelers, Chargers

Currently the 7th seed is the 5-5 Broncos, meaning our Pats are actually only 2 games out of the playoffs right now.

Who do you think gets the final spot?

I hope so. Besides Brady, Burrows is the only QB to beat the Chiefs and Mahomes so far in the playoffs. If they suddenly get hot, watch out ! That should be fun to watch !!

Yep, they are really bad on d right now but they are still one of the few teams i would have some faith in vs kc for the reason you state. Burrow is cold blooded in January. They have a good dc so you never know if they click at some pount down the stretch.

Main thing is staying healthy. The afcc where the chiefs beat them, cincy had 3/5 of their ol out.

It is definitely up for grabs. The teams jockeying for that seed play each other a lot.

If the Pats can go on a run of some kind then they can certainly insert themselves into the conversation. Their upcoming slate:
- Home vs Rams
- Away @ Dolphins
- Home vs Colts
BYE
- Away @ Cardinals
- Away @ Bills
- Home vs Chargers
- Home vs Bills

If they manage to win, let’s say, 3 out of 4 of the next 4 games then they will be 6-8 and definitely be in striking distance; they may even be in the 7th seed itself depending on how other games have gone by then. They probably will fail to clinch the spot due to the difficulty of the final 3 games, but the chance at that opportunity could push them to steal a win from Buffalo who may have little to play for in the final week, etc.

Cincy has two games against Pit and LAC out side of that they have four give me's and the Broncos. They probably pick up five or six wins out those games.

Never underestimate Cincy’s ability to blow it. There’s a reason they have the record they have

This is a hilarious thread given all the doom posts around here.

No, we have no shot this year. We may get to 6 wins at best.
We’ve lost to 3 teams that each have 1 other win all year and a 4th that has 2.

Not the Pats ….probably Cincy

I'm a massive homer, but no. We lost too many games imo. The Dolphin loss annoyed me the most since it felt like they didn't even want to win at times.

This....and also the Seattle and Titans losses really upset me. 3 games they could have won.....

Any given Sunday if we can play a complete on game Offense - Defense and ST's we have a chance.

It's mind blowing to think that as abysmal that we have been this season that we are only 2 games out of an actual play off seed wow! Thst Bengals offense is a problem I'd say the Bengals get it.

Correct. But therein lies the truth : any given Sunday. Which is a far cry from what happened around here before : every Sunday.

Inconsistencies & lack of talent will not allow NE to win many more games. One or two here n there is likely.

They have nothing to loose. Games like yes can give them the confidence that they needed. Never know they could string together some wins and be in position.. a win against the dolphins would give them the second best record in the division I believe. Here's to hoping.

The inconsistency is what concerns me.. leeser talented players can play above their talents if they are put in situations to do so. It would be a revalation for them to get 1 or 2 more wins.

I'm concerned about Maye, not because of the OL problems that were discussed ad nauseum here, but because of the way he runs with the ball. He needs to knock off the **** and learn how to avoid the hits or he won't last. Luckily, we don't have the Steelers on our schedule this year. They're as dirty as they get and wouldn't hesitate to try and take him out, like they tried with Brady and did with Carson Palmer.
