With a 41 year old QB on the last year of his contract.Lamar is the MVP again, their defense is bad and the weapons are mediocre at best.
Imagine we have to watch Bourne, Polk, Thornton, and Bouye every Sunday and convince ourselves they’re good when other Quarterbacks get to throw the ball to Jamar ChaseChase is nuts. Maye needs a #1 guy in a bad way.
How many rings does Burrow/Chase have... the "WR's are the most important position after QB" is the worst take in fandumb.Imagine we have to watch Bourne, Polk, Thornton, and Bouye every Sunday and convince ourselves they’re good when other Quarterbacks get to throw the ball to Jamar Chase
If Patriots don’t draft an elite WR in 2025 draft with their top 5 overall first round pick, then the entire front office should be fired
You do need a #1 reliable option look at the past SB winnersHow many rings does Burrow/Chase have... the "WR's are the most important position after QB" is the worst take in fandumb.
Line play on both sides of the ball is far more important than one superweapon WR.
You need a legit great team to win a Super Bowl. Great teams are made up of great players. You do need a #1 reliable option look at the past SB winners
23- Kelce
22- Kelce
21-Kupp
20- Evans
19- Hill or Kelce
18- Gronk or Edelman
you need a legit #1 out there
It's not like those guys had the greatest QB who ever lived to throw to them. They did it all on their own.You need a legit great team to win a Super Bowl. Great teams are made up of great players.
I could go through every unit on every Super Bowl winner and find a great DB, LB, DT, DE, OL, Kicker and weapons.
Gronk got hurt in 2016 and the Patriots till won a ring with a slot receiver they drafted in the 7th round as their "#1."
How many rings do Randy Moss, Devante Adams, Deandre Hopkins, Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones and Stefon Diggs have between them?
Football is won in the trenches, find your QB, build both lines... everything else will work out.
Would it be nice to have a single amazing weapon... sure, absolutely. The notion that you have to is unfounded. You need a good group of weapons, varied weapons who can win individual battles.
Troy Brown, Wes Welker, Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman... these were all 7th round picks or later, Brown was an 8th round pick and the 8th round doesn't even exist anymore, two of them were UDFA's. You can find weapons, you can't win in the playoffs without good line play.
Yup. In the modern game you have to have that #1 option. You do need a #1 reliable option look at the past SB winners

Stick to the topic please. You're talking up guys who had the greatest QB who ever lived throwing to them as "proof" you don't need a #1 option. Since the Pats don't have that guy anymore how have they done the last few years without that quality #1 option? It's not like those QB's had great teams around them, superior coaches, line play, defenses and good weapons... they did it on their own.
Stick to the topic... you insist teams need a #1 option... whatever that means. It's a vague ambiguous term signifying nothing.Stick to the topic please. Yes and who was his QB? Funny how that works.Stick to the topic... you insist teams need a #1 option... whatever that means. It's a vague ambiguous term signifying nothing.
Edelman has three rings, he was a 7th round pick, he made zero All Pro or Pro Bowl teams and likely won't make the HOF... he wasn't a "#1" by anyones definition. He's got 3 rings. He could get open in a phone booth, had great hands and was tough.
No you haven't. Like who? How many rings have teams not named the Patriots won without a #1 this century? So you say they need a #1, then when I point out how teams have won without a #1... you say the QB's possessed magic powers.
Patriots with Brady = contenders. Without = not exactly contenders to put it politely. You should really be writing for this publication instead, they love hero worship:
I can't converse with a fanboy, there's no logic involved... it's all emotion and feelings.Yes and who was his QB? Funny how that works.
Translation: You are absolutely correct as usual, no teams not named the Patriots have won anything this century without a #1 option.I can't converse with a fanboy, there's no logic involved... it's all emotion and feelings.
No team that won anything hasn’t had a good/great player in every unit or position group… but receivers are special for some reason only you can deduce.Translation: You are absolutely correct as usual, no teams not named the Patriots have won anything this century without a #1 option.
Ok then. That's what many of us are saying in this topic. If teams can clone a Brady then they might get away with it otherwise forget it.
Well I am on the fence with that. They need to protect Maye and the Bengals haven't won ****. I want both, but the need for a legit weapon is glaring. And he did this even when his number 2 WR was out hurt. So he was the main guy and still pulled in 250 yards receiving. That's HoF worthy stuff. And its not his first time doing it either.Imagine we have to watch Bourne, Polk, Thornton, and Bouye every Sunday and convince ourselves they’re good when other Quarterbacks get to throw the ball to Jamar Chase

We should add that Burrow has suffered two serious injuries over his short four year career despite having superweapons across the board.Well I am on the fence with that.
