Before yesterday, I didn't see us winning another game, but I'm riding a nice buzz. So let's go completely nuts on optimism and say 4! Yeah, I said it! 4 total!

If Tua is back for Miami, that one is out of our reach. I think Chicago is much better than us right now.

Agreed. Look at Chicago & Washington both "rebuilding " teams with rookie QBs and brand new coaching staffs. What both those teams have is what we don't TALENT!!!!!!!!

Hopefully we do better against Chicago than that embarrassment on MNF a couple years ago with Jones, Zappe and BB's defense stinking up the place.

Neither of those teams is appreciably more talented than the Patriots. They're slightly more talented where it counts... offensive line.

Doing a sucky job at building the offensive line this offseason was a choice. Wolf wasn't a victim of a bad situation, he created the bad situation while the Bears and Commanders fixed theirs.

McLaren is better than any WR we have on the roster for Daniels.

Williams has a all pro TE and two pro bowl WRs at his disposal.

Hence both those teams have winning records and are likely to be in playoffs positions. Our problems are talent. It's been this way for years now.

Before yesterday I would have said the same thing

But the Titans got their ass kicked and the Patriots somehow someway looked reasonable on offense.

That's why I was so pissed off about yesterday's win. If the Patriots lose to the Titans then maybe just maybe they can find a way back into the first overall pick but I'm guessing that they're not going to lose and they're going to eliminate any chance of the number one pick this weekend.
Honestly I don't want them to have it. If they get it, they'll do something dumb and trade down and probably go outside the top 5 to get lower first round picks instead of taking an obvious stud at a major position of need. Someone else can get that pick and trade it for some QB needy team 2-4 will be good. Will likely force us to get the best OT or WR who should at the very least be a contributor next year.

First overall and they are going to get cute and blow it.

They have better lineman AND WR's. Which is a problem for us when the modern NFL is so pass oriented. We wanted to go old school ground and pound, and that just doesn't work today without a good passing threat.

Also let's be real. Jayden Daniels is playing like an MVP caliber player. That changes a lot for Washington. When you have a rookie already playing at an elite level, it covers up holes. We'd be winning too with a guy like that.

Great thread idea! For the first time in weeks, I actually looked at the upcoming schedule. I had 'em at two wins for the year. I'm adding two: Titans, and one spin-the-dial upset for a grand total of 4. But I do think there will be a lot of close games ... team is not going to quit.

They have overachieved so far with the 2 wins. They might be able to match their 4 wins from last year. At least 5 wins would be a victory for Mayo.

Agree. That's why I have no problem acknowledging teams that have done the right thing to surround the young QBs with talent and it's paying off for them. Both teams are good and will make playoff pushes. Our roster just eroded over the last few seasons.. where as when you have a team like Washington with a #1 it makes life so much easier for the QB.. or the weapons Williams has. For the life of me I hope Lil Marcus isn't matched up on Keenan Allen when we play Chicago.

Well actually I do want them to get it so they can trade out.

Trade in the top two pick for example to go down to pick seven and to accumulate two first round picks in a couple seconds or whatever to do so is much more valuable than them picking that number two and taking a guard or something like that.

We need a lot of help and the only way to do that is to leverage our pick into more pics. Obviously we also need a GM who knows what the **** they're doing so that's a problem.

Sometimes teams can ride momentum for a few games.. it took everything to wrong for the Jets and every to go right for us to win that game. For example just look at our roster.. guys that are not probably even NFL players on defense having to play.. WRs dropping everything.. I give them credit for at least giving effort this time.

They've certainly got a head start with their rookie QB's, but then their rookie QB's were older and more experienced than Maye. They also had more faith in their offensive line to put their rookie QB's out there.

Washington has Terry McLaurin and not much else "better" than the Patriots in terms of weapons. Football is won in the trenches, weapons are largely overrated. The Pat's WR's dropped some easy passes yesterday, but it was endemic of the entire team. They haven't done anything particularly well or consistently all season... yesterday it just happened to be drops.

The Patriot coaches have to do better... the real X factor here has been better coaching by Washington and Chicago. Patriot coaches have been slow to react, to adjust... they're reactionary not proactive.

Daniels left college and entered a Washington team that built a college style offense around his skillset. He was older, more experienced but he is also running a much simpler offense. These organizations are just more well run.

I think 2 or 3 max.

You guys were telling us they had no talent early in the 2014-2018 seasons... then with no influx of new talent those teams played better.

Execution matters as much or more than talent. A talented team can play like sht.
