The Jets are a bad football team. They have 2 wins, both against 1 win teams.
Those are also the only 2 games they scored over 20 points. Last week they were blown out by Pittsburgh. We are a SEVEN POINT HIME UNDERDOG to this 2-5 team.
Tennesse is 1-5. They might be playing a backup QB but their started may be worse.
The early line has is a 3 point underdog

If we lose to 1 win Jacksonville, 2 win Jets and 1 win Tennessee in consecutive weeks to go to 1-8 what is the fall out of that?

It’s going to continue to look really bad for Mayo. He will still have Arizona who are a Jekyll and Hyde team, LA Chargers and Indy for wins. If they can’t beat these teams, losing out is a real possibility.

Pats will probably catch a better team or two napping at some point this season. Ala 2004 Pats @ Miami. Happens all the time.

Critical to what? A playoff run?
Exactly, there are NO critical games left on the schedule. This season is just hoping Maye does not get injured, looking for improvement with the offensive line and receivers. The defense is cooked. No one next to Godchaux, White the only other DL, still undisciplined and maybe misused. Secondary, maybe average. Linebackers suffering. No improvement expected defensively.

I will still maintain that I don't see another win this season. Love Drake.. but scoring won't be the issue it's stopping other teams. The defense just doesn't have the talent to compete.

The only possible wins to prevent 16 consecutive losses seem pretty critical to me.

The defense will be better if the coaching gets better. That may not be a reasonable expectation.

I may have you mixed up with another poster, if so sorry, but wasn’t it you who told me all summer the defense won’t be the problem?

I've only been able to go see the Pats in person once. It was that game...

No you don't have me mixed up. The defense was fine until it lost Bentley and peppers.. it's to tall a task to ask untalented players to do something they aren't capable of.

No team has no injuries. A huge part of my reasoning was the depth is ass and that without BB the role player defense won’t work like it did.
They wouldn’t be much better with Bentley and peppers.

Yes they would they showed that week 1. Bentley went down week 2 the communication immediately suffered. Then loosing peppers.. there is no on field leadership. If this defense had Barmore, Bentley and peppers they would be much better top 10 at least. Also the team is playing the same defense as belichick. So your saying bill could come in right now and coach the defense in it's current state better?

They haven’t been good all year. Bentley is not the difference between best run d and what we have seen. They were as bad with peppers as without him.
Barmore was known to be out when we had that discussion.
Too 10, you crack me up. Even you dint believe that.

They absolutely are NOT playing the same defense as belichick.

Examples:
They are playing base something like 35% of the snaps while belichick played it less than 5.
They were #1 last year in unblocked pass rusher and near last this year.
They are playing a lot more zone.
Anfernee Jennings at one point last week was playing DE on a 3 man front. That would NEVER happen with BB.

The “framework” of the defense is the sane, but the game plans, okay calls and personnel usage is no where near the same

And yes if course Belichick would fix the defense. He never coached one that was this bad. Last year he overcame Judon and Gonzales bring out all year which is much worse then Bentley and peppers.

This season they have no depth at DT. Missing 3 integral peices on defense. The comminucation is what's suffering without Bentley. He makes the calls and outs guys in position. I doubt bill makes any difference with the current roster on defense.. it's too injury plagued and guys playing out if positions.
