If matters continue more or less as they are, should the Krafts fire Mayo at season's end?

Gonzo is the guy with the best shot so far. The rest of the roster has extremely overpaid players on a really bad team. You don't get more dysfunctional than that when you pay guys top of the market contracts on a 4-13 team with no Pro Bowls, All Pro's or being recognized around a the league as top players at their position. I think both Mayo and Wolf would've had way more slack given to them had they not threw the bag at Owenu, Dugger, Barmore and Rham during the off-season. Half of those guys they didn't even need to pay yet. Because it has backfired, the days are looking numbered.
I think they wanted to create an image where patriots will pay market rates considering the free agency reputation. So don't fault them for the contracts .

I will fault them for the contracts because they were idiotic. It actually sends a bad message to the team paying these guys while ignoring their best player since 2021 in Judon.

Apparently, Mayo was asked by a reporter why he's talking about the Jets so much during his latest presser and Mayo says "Stacy James told me to". Boston media having a field day with this one.

lmao
Good on Mayo at least showing he's not totally soft.

What? You think that a team decides how much to pay a player in order to address a made up belief of a reputation? They over pay in order to get the message out that they are easy mark?

This is where I have a problem with Bill, he hated anyone who talked about HIS team but now he's doing it, he's been kind of an ass.
So you want him to not be honest? His job is to talk about the NFL.

I think mayo thought being nice with media will mean they will be helpful to them. its worked to an extent but eventually they wull just use your friendly and honest quotes to their advantage.

Mayo will become quite measured going forward and it's very visible today as to how much they overused the soft statement. Every player on team is asked the same soft question. The amount of distraction is too much . And I can see the krafts getting irritated with this gaffe.

Expect him to just mouth whatever he is tutored to say. Anything out of syllabus is going to get the belichick response.

Bill didn't hate anyone who talked about HIS team. You have a lot of BB anxiety.
