I just heard that Mayo explained that he went for 2 because like that you know what you need ! You can’t make this stuff up!
He is right.

You need 2 TDs ASSUMING you get the 2 point conversion.

If you take 1 on the first one you are playing for one score. If you score and miss the 2, you lose.

If you take the 2 point try on the first score, you now have the knowledge of whether you made it and need 1 score or missed it and need 2.

In the event you make the 2 it was irrelevant which score you got it on.

In the event you miss the 2 if you do it on the first score now you know in this case with 9 minutes left that you actually need 2 more scores.

There is no advantage to forestalling it.

If you are down 9 with 9 minutes left you play very differently than if you are down 7.
Settling fir being down 7 means you don’t have the benefit if knowing that info.

Thought for a rookie, Maye played well again. Can’t wait to see what he looks like when he has a top talent WR and LT. Maybe even a coach or 2. So far so good though considering how bad the talent is around him.

Bill came into a situation that was much better than what Fairbanks an Parcells had to build from.
What? I think it was Dr Z who famously said the 2000 Patriots had the least talent in the NFL. And they lost their 1st round pick for hiring Belichick. Ron Borges complained about picking Seymour in 2001 over David Terrell saying the Pats "aren't going to win any Super Bowls soon". The 2001 Pats were a great example of a rapid roster rebuild coupled with superb coaching. And Tom Brady.

Disagree, anyway as I said I don’t think he should be starting this season not that his career is over. We have to now because of the poor decisions made in the spring/summer.

Mac looked good in his first season never forget, saw some bad decisions from Maye today other than the time he didn’t throw the ball into trouble and took the sack (should’ve chucked it out of play but give him a break).

3 overthrown balls, while the WR’s could’ve also made good catches, it’s still on him as well. Are you going to defend Polk as well because he’s a rookie?
So your argument is Maye shouldn’t be playing because he will make mistakes and learn from them?
Maye has already made a half dozen throws Mac Jones either didn’t process enough to make, was afraid to, or didn’t have the arm to.

If you think Mac Jones as a rookie ever looked as good as Maye already has, I’m sorry but you dint know what you are looking at.

It was Joel Bauschbaum, and prior to the 2001 season he said the patriots were farther from the sb than any other team.
He passed away not long after but I don’t remember if it was before or after they won it.

His ability move the ball downfield consistently has separated him from our previous options. Get him a guy with a large catch radius and a line that can give him time and things could start to come together.

Thing is did anyone see any improvement from last week? I saw plenty and thats what we are looking for. Progress week to week.

And screw the Houston coaches. Might put that as my sig now.
The offensive line did a better job with the spread offense and Drake Maye providing a wider array of plays to defend. The receivers, except for Polk (man, do I feel sorry for him) did a better job getting separation and off the line.

Before I say too much about the defense, I just want to say that that Jaguars' offensive line was extraordinary today. Hats off to those guys. If the Patriots had the Jags Offensive Line, what would they look like with Stevenson, Maye etc.?

The defense was the most concerning thing for me. What is happening there? It looks to me like the losses of Bentley and Peppers were much bigger than I thought. If the defense could tighten up, this team could win some games. The stand at the six-yard line was great but it came after a nine-minute drive.

Drake Maye was better just by not turning the ball over.

I don't think Mayo could do a much worse job, to be honest. I can't think of many examples of a coach who has fumbled the job harder than this. Regardless of the state of the roster, he's shown no ability to get any more than the baseline ability of his players out of them, and lately he doesn't even get that. They've quit on him completely, and then he goes to the media and basically says they suck.

I'm just about done with him. I loved him as a player, but as a head coach he's been an absolute fool in basically every facet.

Were you a fan in 2000? Belichick inherited ty law, lawyer milloy, Ted Johnson, tedy bruschi, Willie mcginest, Kevin faulk, Troy Brown....

DEI causes craziness. I work in a Fortune 50 company that’s male dominated. So hiring a female as a manager when she would never sniff the position if she were a white male is almost commonplace.

RK was wearing his rose colored glasses. Facts were unimportant.
I believe that Bob Krafts wife turned Bob woke.

But, like any savy businessman, Kraft was at the Al Smith dinner the other night front row chowing down on something. Orange man was there too.

Dan Cambell was 0-9-1 in his first 10 games, 8 weeks in they lost 44-6 at home. They won 3 of last 6 to finish 3-13-1 but 2 of those late losses were 38-10 and 51-29. People felt Campbell wasn't prepared as well, only being a raw former player and did not have the ability to successfully coach an NFL team.

Takes time to judge a new coach. Could be another Brandon Staley, could be Dan Campbell, way too early to tell.
I tried that analogy already, no one bought it except maybe you.

They have a lot of money that they have to spend so no excuses for not getting talent next year, and they better have a better draft.
You do understand this is not Madden you can't just throw money at FA and they will just come here right? some players are just not going to play here

Let’s try to sign them before we accept that BS.

24 should be cut tomorrow for that PR TD Unblocked and either made no effort to make the tackle or doesn’t understand how to play football and tackle people.

Wtf has happened to the running game, a rookie QB is your leading rusher in his damn two first starts? Imagine what kind of play action damage Maye could do if he had one!
