Can Massachusetts get rid of the 5% millionaires’ tax, too? This team is having to roll rocks uphill because of it. Not to say other teams like those in California and New York aren’t dealing with similar comparative disadvantages.
They can pay 5% more. They have it in unspent cap room 3 times over.

It's weird because Bill used comments like "this team is soft" to fuel his players, because it was being said by others.

How do you leverage that when it's you (Mayo) who said it, to the media?

Head scratching handling of media, it feels self-interested and doesn't really exude a "players win games, coaches lose them" philosophy.

I've been over this 1000x. It doesn't matter. It's not just NY and California either. Aiyuk would've had to pay $580k more in taxes in Foxboro than with Pittsburgh. He chose to pay a lot more in Cali.

You only pay Mass. taxes on HALF the money, and even then, the difference between 10% and 5% is not that great. $580k on $27m per year.

Plus, as I look around the league at disgruntled Deandre Hopkins, disgruntled AJ Brown, Stephon Diggs, Davante Adams, Calvin Ridley, it seems these superstar WRs have a way of curdling once they get their big $$ in free agency.

Then this team will lose two years of Drake Maye then! This team is going nowhere with Mayo at the helm! Mayo is like the Zack Wilson of HC
Dan Cambell was 0-9-1 in his first 10 games, 8 weeks in they lost 44-6 at home. They won 3 of last 6 to finish 3-13-1 but 2 of those late losses were 38-10 and 51-29. People felt Campbell wasn't prepared as well, only being a raw former player and did not have the ability to successfully coach an NFL team.

Takes time to judge a new coach. Could be another Brandon Staley, could be Dan Campbell, way too early to tell.

Thing is Dan Campbell is attached to a great GM and a great OC.

Dan Campbell team were never soft!

Brandon Staley was a better HC than Jerod Mayo!

We have the worst HC in the NFL! If you want to wait two years saying every week : « this week is the week » have at it! But we’ll end up in the same place with Mayo getting fired.

In your case we lose 2 years in my case we lose 7 weeks!

I just heard that Mayo explained that he went for 2 because like that you know what you need ! You can’t make this stuff up!

This is way worse than 1990 when they went 1-15. That team had some good players like Irving Fryar, Vincent Brown, Andre Tippett, Maurice Hurst, and Ronnie Lippett. Plus, their coach- as much as he sucked as a HC, had a lot of success as a DC.

I felt way more confident then that things were eventually going to turn around.

This team really only has a few players that I'm interested in building around: Maye, Douglas, Jennings, Gonzales, Marcus Jones, (maybe) Barmore if he gets healthy, (maybe) White if he grows up, (maybe) Mapu, and their punter and kicker.

First of all, we need a whole new GM and scouting team.
We need a new OC.
We need a new DC.
We need a new HC for sure.
We need a whole new RB group. BTW our running backs absolutely suck and Wolfe has mostly got a pass for this, which I don't understand. RBs are much easier to find then tackles, for example.4
We need a whole new WR group. BTW, why hasn't Baker been given an opportunity? You have nothing to lose at this point.
We need a backup QB.
We need new tackles and a new Center.
We need basically a new D line.
We need new linebackers outside of Jennings. BTW where has Uche been? Missing person alert.
We need help at safety.

Honestly if you could do a Herschell Walker or Ricky Williams type of deal by moving Maye I think you have to consider it. That's how bad things are.
Then you need to find the most important piece
More likely. We obviously will be drafting very high.
Trade that pick for a bunch of high picks.
Take those picks and the mound of money in next years FA and make the team better one year at a time
Coaching staff and GM definately needs a makeover

Ok- but I don’t want Wolfe or Groh anywhere near that undertaking.

Maye is fine. He got better from last week to this week.
Disagree, anyway as I said I don’t think he should be starting this season not that his career is over. We have to now because of the poor decisions made in the spring/summer.

Mac looked good in his first season never forget, saw some bad decisions from Maye today other than the time he didn’t throw the ball into trouble and took the sack (should’ve chucked it out of play but give him a break).

3 overthrown balls, while the WR’s could’ve also made good catches, it’s still on him as well. Are you going to defend Polk as well because he’s a rookie?

Unfortunately, in 2025 draft there are no “generationsl” cant miss picks like Williams and Daniels this year
So trade value of top pick wont be high

We will be fighting it out with Briwns and Panthers for top pick

Yeah Sam.
I think the only value is if you have the top pick
Someone will overpay for Sanders

Until we get a good GM and HC
No one is still not going to want to come here

At least a GM and HC with some appeal could sell Maye as the attraction
Niw hopefully Maye continues to show some promise

I don’t know who this 98.5 guy McCarthy is but he’s 100% right. AVP is the least of the Pats problems and he’s done a lot by developing Drake Maye. Playcalling is nowhere near the biggest problem (it usually isn’t unless we’re playing Madden). Biggest problem is the roster.
The talent is so bad it is like that old electric football game
Line up your players and hit the switch
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then

There's way too much competition for this first overall pick.

They could literally win 3 or 4 games and pick 8 overall.

Now that would be a disaster.

Honestly I imagine that Bill had his hand in sooo much of the teams day to day, Mayo probably wasn’t privy to or a part of seeing not only the defensive side of the ball, but the whole picture. I would think Bill took care of so much minutiae his way, that Mayo didn’t see it? Welcome to the nfl coach !!!
How could Mayo see it
He was at Chuck n Cheese with Thundercat
