The thing I think is interesting is the roster construction and philosophy for each of the 4 championship teams were completely different from each other, showing how many different ways a champion can be put together.Who would have thunk it.
There was a time where they were more popular than the Patriots. Even after NE won the first two titles.
This isn't just not wanting to spend, it's a lack of creativity and an arrogant belief that fans will continue to flock to the park and their TVs because of past success.
I bled Red Sox growing up in the 80s and 90s. I faithfully listened every night through some absolutely horrible seasons. Like all of us I later basked in the glory of championships finally won and bonus ones tacked on later.
I'm sure part of it is I have changed. But man it just seems nowadays like no one in the organization gives a ****. If you believe that as a fan, you stop caring yourself. Being a true baseball fan takes up way more of your time than any other sport. Time is valuable, I for one won't waste it.
Again, wake me up when the team is sold.
