This loss was mainly due to the coaching staff, they all look out of their league, Mayo has no clue. Did he not learnt a thing from Belicheck ? No in game decisions, he does not use any time outs, his game plans are horrible. How Kraft thought this was Bill's successor is beyond me ? If they don't realize this, Maye will get ruined , he needs someone like Josh, who can coach him properly, someone that is a very good OC, not a clown show like we have right now !
I actually do feel that maybe the defense was more SB than Mayo. They seem to have regressed. I know they are dealing with injuries, but today for the first time, I felt like some of them were freelancing .
The person or people that are in charge of our strength and conditioning need to be fired. I have never seen so many injuries hit the team all at once , it's ridiculous.
Overall, I am not a fan of Mayo or anything he has done his first off season and his first season as head coach. But I fear we are stuck with him as old Bobby will not fire him for at least 3 years ! Great Patriots player but horrible coach !!!
This season is so frustrating to watch, as we had millions to spend and got no one of value especially on the offensive side of the ball in free agency !
The defense has a lot of key injuries and other things (ahem, Peppers) so their lack of play is understandable, but you see many of the young players coming on strong, so next year, if everyone's healthy, you can imagine a much stronger D. Think of adding this year's Marcus Jones, Keion White, Anfernee, maybe Mapu, to last year's D (Barmore and Bentley).

The problem I see is Mayo handling situational football and basic decisions, like NOT accepting a penalty on 3rd and long. He does seem out of his depth.

They gotta stop shuffling the o-line. I get making changes for injuries. But if you are putting in a new five starters every week, you are never going to ever have any continuity.
They are doing it because of injuries not because they want to.

Leverett was injured, Jordan et Lowe got injured during the game.

Coaching staff is terrible, far too many penalties and starting games looking completely unprepared.

Offensive play calling is so predictable we must of ran about 15 times on first down for about 20 yards, just wasting a down over and over.

Maye showed promise and clearly has talent but i'm worried about who's going to be coaching him.
To be fair, both of those PI calls that spotted the Texans a 14 point lead where horrible at best. Sometimes once the rails come off, it's hard to get them back on.

I thought Maye played well, obviously some turnovers he would like back. Tighten those up and we have a chance to win that game. It was against a great defense and he still threw 3 TDs in his rookie start. All of a sudden we look like we have some WR and it's only going to get better once Bourne is back in the lineup

That was one of the inconsistency issues this game though. Obviously first INT was bad accuracy, and a few other throws in the first and second quarters where he threw a bit behind the receiver. There was an obvious one early in the 4th to Douglas, where Douglas caught it a bit behind him and lost his balance and was immediately tackled, but if Maye hit him in stride it’s a TD. Hopefully he’ll start being more consistent there.
We have not seem passes like that since Brady.

Whats nice is that that pass got there quick with velocity. 180 degrees from a Corky Mac deep ball. No wounded ducks coasting on for a landing.

Why do need to keep bringing back Josh?

Polk will be fine.. he had a bad game. He's the future along with Drake

Yeah, way too early on polk. That said, VERY suprising him and maye seemed to have like no chemistry. I was hoping to see some back shoulder type stuff and easy completions. It looked like polk has never played a down of football. Hopefully he bounces back next week.

We need Javon Baker out there he's a better player.

Jets, Titans & Bears should be tough defensively, but I’m excited to see Maye’s resiliency throughout this particular stretch.

No way. We need every position on offense other than QB and guard. Defense may be better but it won’t be because of high draft picks.

In the first quarter, the Texans were called for illegal shift on a 3rd down with an incompletion that would make it 4th and long.

Inexplicably, Mayo accepted the penalty.

Can anyone tell me what happened there?

How is this possible?

99% of the fans would've declined the penalty.
The call was reversed to a completion. TV didn't address it. Heard that on Patriots.com postgame.

This has not been mentioned but our Defense is @ss against the Run and Bentley ain't coming through that door.
