What happens if the Pats win this Sunday?

That changes the whole picture. NE WRs begin producing because the ball is getting out quickly and the NE offense is taking shots downfield. Moreover, the NE OL is looking better as well because the new QB is faster going through reads.

It likely wont happen, but Maye could shock the NFL with a win because he played extremely well.
It wouldn't shock me if they win due to the Texans not having film on him and that the overall product of the NFL is really bad. Upsets are happening frequently.

Pok looks like Bourne, good player… not some game changer. We had a bunch of those guys exiting camp.

Juju I suspect wanted out and had a bunch of young athletic guys nipping at his heels. I think he wanted to go back to KC knowing they needed help.
I think Tyquan and polk can reach thier potential now.. somehow baker has to fid he way on the field he's too talented to be DNPs.. we need the young guys to all develop along with Drake.

We’ll see if they’re smart enough to give Tyquan another shot, they also have to target Douglas heavily.

I don’t care who plays that third WR position, those guys are all the same.

I can't base anything from the WRs on anything I've seen at QB past 5 weeks.
I know Douglas has unique quickness and explosion none of these other guys have. He is the quentisential slot guy.

I know Tyquan has real deep ball speed, length and ability to stretch a defense that none of these other guys have.

All the other receivers have similar size, speed and skillsets. They’re all “good” but redundant.

The Texans can rush the passer for sure, but the rest of their defense isn’t scary. They’re not amazing at stopping the run which is what teams have to do first to beat the Patriots. The Texans have given up the 17th most rushing yards and rank 24th in yards per attempt. They don’t give up a lot of passing yards but have given up quite a few passing TD’s.

Overall they rank 19th in point allowed per drive, middling. As long as the Pats run the ball, use play action and get the ball out quickly they should be fine.

If Wolf trades for another 4.5 forty WR he should be egged every time he leaves Gillette for his car. We have enough of those guys already.

If you can’t trade for offensive line help or just a great player who can help you in the coming years then stand Pat.
No denying that we need OL help.. absolutely. Need to get the LT position sured up.

Shows just how bad the QB has been.
The offensive line has been worse this year than any point the last two… and that’s really saying something.

Take away the RB fumbles and this year’s offense also doesn’t turn the ball over. Mac led the NFL in turnovers as a starter whenever he played the last two years.

In short, Jacoby is better than Mac even if he’s slightly above average. Mac stunk…

The only position I'm looking for at trade deadline is a serviceable LT. One that won't get Maye killed. Once LT is solved the other pieces tend to find a better place to be on the OL. More players will be shifted to natural positions. I wouldn't give up a lot. Maybe a 3rd or 4th pick for an average veteran LT. Maybe a guy who only has a year left on his contract so his team might not want to pay him in free agency anyways. Just keep Maye upright, and that should make his coming out party a lot easier to handle.

Everyone will want the trash castoffs offs from a 1-4 team. We gonna get so many 19th round picks.
They're not going to get tons for anybody they'd be willing to trade (they could get a first for Gonzalez, probably, but there's no way they'd trade him), although they might be able to get something decent (e.g., a fourth) for, say, Jon Jones if a team gets desperate the way the Pats did when they traded for Sanu.

I definitely wouldn't trade any OL at this point.

Agreed. What I'm looking for is to judge how lowe does playing with maye. If... just if now lowe can end up being serviceable then at least we know he can be a back up to the drafted LT next season.

@PatsFan2 would be happy to hear you speak on Tyquan wozzy! I'm curious to see him with Drake. I think even though he's a trade possibility I think if he shows something with Drake on the outside that could make KB or someone else expendable. Juju for some reason just couldn't seem to play in NE.
A lot of receivers came here and were poorly utilized or couldn’t “get” the system and struggled…..then went on to another team and “went off”again…schuster has been doing great in KC again for example….

Nobody wants our OL

Perfect example you put up. Our QB position has been piss poor since goat left. It's the truth our struggles have been primarily on offense. Without adequate QB play winning or even looking like a offense. It's tiring seeing piss poor QB play.

Trading Osborn makes too much sense. He was a productive #3 WR in Minnesota the last three seasons, but he always seemed to be a one year rental to weather Bourne’s injury and maturation of whatever rookie they picked unless he broke out and showed that he was worthy of a bigger role than the 53/615/5 he averaged those three years with the Vikings. He did the opposite of breaking out, Bourne is back, and the nerd stats say Polk has been doing very well but needs a QB to throw him the ball. I suppose Boutte working his way into the rotation is a bonus too.

The issue now is that the comp pick system is going to rule teams out, as trading for Osborn counts as a free agent addition and would cancel out comp picks that teams otherwise would get. He’s a 7th round comp pick value himself (meaning he’d cancel out a team’s lowest projected pick), so going off Korte’s projections, these are the teams that would be losing a comp pick in addition to whatever they traded for him:
3rd: Vikings
4th: Giants
5th: Bills
6th: Raiders, Seahawks
7th: Dolphins, Browns, Chiefs, Chargers, Packers, Saints, 49ers

Are you sure about that? My understanding has always been that a trade exists outside of the comp pick formulation, as the player’s contract was not signed for with the team but instead acquired via other means. This is why Belichick was always eager to trade low picks for depth pieces instead of signing them as free agents, because the traded-for player would not count against him in the formula and so he would get a better return back in the form of comp picks later.

If that’s the case then a team who just needs a receiver for right now benefits, as Osborn would not count against their free agent crop for 2024 but WOULD count as a UFA in their favor for the formula when he leaves and signs elsewhere in 2025. So whatever low level deal he signs then would cancel out a similar deal for a player they sign next year.
