I hope they make it a point of coaching emphasis that Maye protect himself if he runs. I don't want to see any of his runs end in anything but slides - well, unless, they go into the EZ... I don't want to see him try to Earl Campbell anyone.

You've been watching a disaster the past 5 weeks. If we are going to struggle rather struggle watching Drake play . We need to develop him by playing this season in order to get to where we want to be next off season. He'll have his rookie struggles but at least I know the ball will travel past the LOS.

Yes, this is a country and a board full of conspiracy theories.

Thornton is just NOT that important. He was competing with Baker and Boutte for the #4 WR spot. Now, with Bourne back, it is the #5 WR spot.

As is the case in every pre-season, there are WR's at the bottom of the roster that could be good. Sometimes there are given a real chance.
At some point the team has to make a decision with regard to how many reps to devote to a bottom of the roster player. In 2024, we have developmental Baker being inactive, so basically the team needs to decide who to cut: Thornton, Borne or Boutte. If Baker improves some, we could cut two.

BOTTOM LINE
The #6 WR shouldn't get reps. IMO, we were having competition (in practice and the preseaon and the season) between Thornton, Baker and Boutte. Thornton is the first to be voted off the island.

Thornton was playing the majority of snaps the first two weeks and was phased out as they realized they couldn't block. It's right there in the snap counts... it's not a conspiracy theory.

Also having a fast WR who can keep opposing defenses honest is important. Football 101

I will judge Mayo starting Sunday and beyond I will not hold back so far he's had a rough go. But let's give him at least the benefit of the doubt he was playing without a QB for 5 weeks

As somebody who is fine with sitting Maye, I hope this is the right decision.
