Throw Milton into it, just throw bombs and scramble. Lose 38-24, but enjoy toursleves

Not that I’m not loving two straight years of dump passes and runs right up the gut
If Mayo thought that Milton could score 24 points against HOU, he'd have started Game 1.

We're talking about a pretty raw QB prospect who has good enough athleticism but not enough to make splash plays that smooth over the growing pains as a passer. They are arguably league-worst both on the OL protecting him and in talent for him him to throw to. I hate to be pessimistic but my guess is that he's going to look so horrible this year that we're seen as a LESS attractive situation next year because now instead of being tied to a rookie QB we're tied to a QB who will end up looking awful in year 1.

So, your idea is to wait to see whether we get a true #1 in the draft before we decide whether to sign a top WR?
No it’s not my idea. There are just more options when you have the 1st pick. They have the $ for FA’s as well.

They incorrectly predicted injuries as well…bastards!
Injuries happen to every team. Coaches and front offices who blame injuries always fail.

I doubt this has anything to do with Peppers. If they are rushing him into the line up before he is ready, it is solely because the offense is crap and largely because of Brissett. An average QB would have won on Sunday. A below average QB would have won on Sunday.

I am excited to see Maye play, but I am more excited (or more hopeful) that I am watching him starting for the Pats in 2034 and competing for Super Bowls. And I am willing to sacrifice any excitement this year for this.
I hope Maye is on the team a decade from now.

Agreed. I find the timing moronic.
They have no plan because nobody in their right mind would plan this game looking at the schedule.

If Polk gets his feet down and we win the game they're playing Brissett again, it's a ridiculous way to make a decision, Brissett should of been pulled at half time against the Dolphins if they were going to make it up on the fly.

Well, we know he can take a few thousand hits from his time in college.

Brissett could use the break either way. I don't remember him staring down receivers or going into freeze mode as much as I've watched lately.

I do have confidence that Jacoby will handle this like a true pro and help Maye anyway he can.

On the D, it's Mapu time, I guess...freaking Pepper...

I would rather get a haul like Chicago got from Carolina. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s any QB that has separated himself. I’ve looked at a lot of mocks and they’re all over the place. I’ve seen guys like Sanders, Beck, Milton at #1 overall and mid to late first in others. Maybe, that will change.
QB prospects are kind of weak so far and 2026 looks better so teams will be reluctant to trade up for a weaker prospect in 2025 and give up their 2026 first but doesn't mean some team does not fall in love with one of them. Been plenty of years when top pick is not traded and a QB is not selected because nobody worth trading up for. 2025 might be one of those years.
Of course, the higher you pick the better the odds.

It's most likely they benched him because the offense looks like trash and they needed someone to blame. They couldn't pass deep, so playing a deep ball WR made no sense... but they should give Maye some toys to play with.
Yes, this is a country and a board full of conspiracy theories.

Thornton is just NOT that important. He was competing with Baker and Boutte for the #4 WR spot. Now, with Bourne back, it is the #5 WR spot.

As is the case in every pre-season, there are WR's at the bottom of the roster that could be good. Sometimes there are given a real chance.
At some point the team has to make a decision with regard to how many reps to devote to a bottom of the roster player. In 2024, we have developmental Baker being inactive, so basically the team needs to decide who to cut: Thornton, Borne or Boutte. If Baker improves some, we could cut two.

BOTTOM LINE
The #6 WR shouldn't get reps. IMO, we were having competition (in practice and the preseaon and the season) between Thornton, Baker and Boutte. Thornton is the first to be voted off the island.

Hopefully he isn't over his head?
If he is this could be a disaster.

They'll have to bench him and go back to Jacoby or give Milton some run.

I hope Maye can run for his life and avoid pressure the way Brissett was doing.

He kind of did it in college so you think he'd have some instincts for it.

I guess the idea is to let Thornton get a TD or two to raise his trade value while leaving Bourne and Osborne inactive.
Since T.T. only has 1 or 2 *career* TD receptions, I’d say you’d have a better chance of hitting on PowerBall 2 weeks straight than seeing a 2 TD game from our “One Catch Wonder”!
